What's new

New attack in Balochistan today

Previous Government launched Operation Zarb-e-Azb costing Rs 25 million a day and it was a success.

That's what it boils down to - money.

How many billions is the current Government willing to spend on a military operation in Balochistan? I think none and they're going to try and kick the can down the road as long as possible.
BLA don't control any territory so who are we are going to do operation against?
While TTP was holding territory and they fought like a conventional army so we did the operation irrespective of the cost.
Intelligence based operation and buying of loyalties is the need of the time.

.
These attacks can be reduced if they put MRAPS....If even not MRAPS,Any Armoured Vehicle would work...Even M113...I don't know what's going on in the mind of Chain Of Command who are sitting in Fortified Bases...But I heard that it was an Ambush on a FC foot Patrol....In an Ambush...You have to work on your survival instincts....

Even cheap ex-Soviet BTR-80 from eastern European stocks could be bought in bulk for under $50,000 each. They are used in UN Peacekeeping missions, and while they may not have the best armor (which taxila can fix), they are fast and can try to exit a fight before getting pinned down.

they are also large enough to house a 30 mm cannon on top. The Turks have 180 with upgraded thermal sights in storage or mothball. We should try to get those to start.

.
Intelligence and local support to point out The Who, what, when, where and why of these attackers. OODA; Observe, Orient, Decide and Act against their networks.

Sealing the Iranian and Afghan borders and only allowing passage after through checks at designated check points may stop more getting in, but only intelligence will stop those sleepers waiting to strike.

MRAP; even basic one with a remote weapon system on top of every other vehicle can be enough.

Excess defense article clauses should be invoked to get MRAPs on the cheap. We could also approach Eastern European countries with older armored cars like the BTR-80 (and do the up-armor work ourselves).

the army doesn’t want to pull resources for a What it may perceive as a diversion, but securing the nation’s interior is key to getting FDI and making sure CPEC succeeds.
200 MRAPs would do the job just in case we are short of funds.
In Baluchistan the history says that only small patrols and convoys were the target.
So we protect those small convoys and patrols. They know they can't attack big convoys and run out of there alive. We have to use these vehicles for the jobs where less than 5 vehicles are going on a mission.

Also we need the means for our troops to effectively fight back if they come under attack.

For the current force of Toyota Hilux, put a remote weapons system on at least two in every convoy, and attack uavs to the roofs or an opt tonic mast of a few vehicles, so in the event of an attack we can find the enemy and return fire quickly.

add at least one vehicle with a soft recoil mortar to take out enemy with heavy weapons, and for God sake put on some kind of uparmoring

And for RPG defense

and a drone like this with the kind of gimbaled laser designator and camera system to guide projectiles on the enemy

we should also be searching for bomb makers with lasers when convoys go on patrol through a suspected area. If detected, people in the area can be checked for residue.

facial recognition software used on cameras on convoys and at checkpoints can help find people suspect or known to be or work with these kinds of attackers.

Instead of blaming others, we need to focus on what we can do better. Army needs to invest in MRAP and leadership in army and government need to be held accountable.

Been saying long time fencing is almost complete we need to develop whole intelligence and Armed and unarmed drone network all along western border including Iran I know it's expensive but it's once in lifetime investment also we need one C130 gunship or even C235 gunship with MRAP for soldiers China makes good MRAP will be cheaper too for procure. We need 6-10 turkish akinci drones which carry almost same load what F16 does in shape of smart munitions JDMS Bombs that will make a big difference and free Up our jets let drones to do dirty work
