The Dutch Ministry of Defence signed a seven-year contract on 7 February for the delivery of Heckler & Koch HK416A5 rifles, parts, additional equipment, and accessories.
The single source procurement worth EUR14 million (USD17.3 million) with Condor Arhem includes an option for an additional three years.
Unveiled in 2012, the HK416A5 is equipped with fully ambidextrous manipulators and a gas regulator allowing suppressed fire.
The earlier variant of the HK416 is the standard weapon of all three Dutch special forces units: the army’s Korps Commandotroepen, Royal Netherlands Marine Corps’ Maritime Special Operations Forces, and Marechaussee gendarmerie Brigade Speciale Beveiligingsopdrachten.
