Nestlé inaugurates $22m manufacturing plant in Sheikhupura

Obviously it is not as if they're shoving their stuff down our mouths. Been through shit medically so I can relate. I keep a rationalised fat/sugar intake (no beef; mutton once in a blue moon, almost no chocolates though I love those, half a teaspoon of sugar with any caffeine, no mithai, no paratha, no paye shaye etc).

. .
Don't eat junk and sugar and live a better life with a more able brain and lower insulin levels. That's what I'm saying.

Common people are not well informed on what they are consuming.
These products should carry labeling for being a health and cognitive function hazard.

Man our whole diet is unhealthy.... do you see any thing healthy in our daily lives? naan, roti, chawal, refined carbs, alot of oil, fried things, junk food, desi food all are same culprits as sugar

.
120 million Euros were invested in 2018-2019 in Unilever Pakistan as well by Unilever global. 7 Plants underwent expansion projects and one manufacturing facility of liquid surf was brought to Pakistan as well.

Pretty much. People need to eat more proteins and healthy fat. And switch natural sugars for refined, or leave sugar as a whole (The only way to get rid of type 2 diabetes apart from going full time Keto)

Punjabis were fine till they were eating corn Bread and Makhan and all. The more hard food you have to chew the better your facial profile. (Mewing)
Now you see all fat half pregnant folk walking around, with awfully developed faces and chins.

Plus sugar and refined carbs increases obesity, abdominal fat which is culprit of alooot of things, there is a reason we see advertisments of impotence on every wall. No Exc, bad diet, obesity all of this is leading us to a distopia.
When ever I ask my family members to have a break from sugar, roti and chawal only question I get is "Tu khain kia? bhoky mar jain". It's an addiction stronger thn cocain.

Every little counts. The factory will employ hundreds of people and each one will be supporting a family or contributing to the economy.
This is not tesco ffs

Welcome to insulin resistance, child obesity and type 2 diabetes.

Hahaha tesco well spotted but it was entirely unintentional.

I dont buy this "oh they're going to kill us with sugar" line. I bet you drank fruit juices, fizzy drinks, ate sweets and crisps and are most likely ok.

As long as you do these things in moderation it's no more harmful than eating dessert.

When I was growing up, sugary drinks would only enter our home on the odd occasion, they were not part of our weekly shop. Dessert was an occasional thing, not a daily thing. Fried food was something we had once a week. You'd have to beg for sweets (other than bounty which both mum and dad had a soft spot for).

I do the same with my kids. I'm not as strict, but I made the effort to educate my kids about the food they eat (school plays a big part in this too). They'll pick water with meals, not fizzy drinks. They'll have them, but occasionally.

It's up to us to look after ourselves.

While any investment is good investment but companies like Nestle often import raw materials from abroad using our dollar reserves, then sell it in Pakistan to earn ruppees and then repatriate their profit abroad again in dollars. So net Pakistan as a country does not benefit.

You are right that this happens in a lot cases but for this particular plant the main ingredient is fruit pulp and Nestle is working with hundreds of local farms to improve productivity and yield, which is a good thing. Fun part will start once they start exporting from Pakistan.

Regarding sugar intake, it is unfortunate that Pakistanis consume a LOT of sugar. Majority of people take dump spoonfuls of sugar in their tea, which they take at least three times a day. Then we have our main staple food wheat which is full of carbs. A massive re-education campaign is needed to tell people to stop this.
