Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar inaugurated a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant at Nestlé Pakistan’s Sheikhupura Factory.

The production capacity of the Nestlé Fruita Vitals (Nestlé’s range of juices, nectars and drinks) Plant – the newest edition to its facilities operating in Pakistan – is 24,000 units per hour. The company’s investment of $22 million is one of its largest investments recently.

Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said, “We aim to create conditions in which foreign companies are attracted towards making new investments. At present, the government is making concerted efforts to revive the nation’s economy. I am really pleased to see that Nestlé, one of the world’s leading food and beverage companies, is making such good progress in Pakistan.”

Welcoming the investment, the governor added, “I am heartened to see that Nestlé has always taken a keen interest in creating opportunities for the people. Their investment demonstrates and speaks volume about Nestlé’s trust in the future of Pakistan.”

Nestlé Pakistan Chief Executive Officer Samer Chedid, while sharing his views, said, “Nestlé’s recent investment is a testament to our continuous trust in Pakistan and its growth potential. We are also excited about integrating our Chaunsa value chain. We are procuring Chaunsa mangoes from the 110 farms that we introduced interventions to improve their yield’s quantity and quality.

“This integration demonstrates our Creating Shared Value approach in which we ensure that our activities and products are making a positive difference to society while contributing to Nestlé’s ongoing success.

“We appreciate the government’s steps as a result of which Pakistan has been listed by the World Bank as among the ‘Top-20 Improvers in Ease of Doing Business 2020’. This is a clear reflection of the government’s commitment to improving competitiveness by increasing support for the development of the private sector, reducing the regulatory and administrative burden on enterprises.”

Every little counts. The factory will employ hundreds of people and each one will be supporting a family or contributing to the economy.

They are not forcing those people to consume those drinks

Unless you want us to shut down all beverages plants in Pakistan and make thousands of Pakistanis working in those factories unemployed

While any investment is good investment but companies like Nestle often import raw materials from abroad using our dollar reserves, then sell it in Pakistan to earn ruppees and then repatriate their profit abroad again in dollars. So net Pakistan as a country does not benefit.

I agree with the posters regarding job creation and employment.

Gulab gamun and shiz like that is deep fried dough and then soked in sugar syrup....what are you trying to say?

Don't eat junk and sugar and live a better life with a more able brain and lower insulin levels. That's what I'm saying.

Common people are not well informed on what they are consuming.
These products should carry labeling for being a health and cognitive function hazard.

Whats wrong with you and generally our population. Someone invests in pakistan we start criticising them. They are creating job opportunities and investment, we should appreciate that.

Multinational food companies sell sugar/fat laden foods so you can run along to your doctor to get prescribed imported/licensed/patented medicine. It's all a fuckin ruse. Not that local food is any better. Just stop gouging on everything that friggin moves.

If you do everything in moderation, it does you no harm. Obviously if you are drinking fizzy drinks or juices when you should be having water, then you are doing yourself harm.

Oh bhai, invest in something that helps the population.
This Nestle was first killing our people with polluted water being sold in bottles. And now they are going to manufacture cognitive health destroying juices and pass them off as something premium...

Individuals should take responsibility. Over consumption is the problem, not what you consume.

Refined sugar should be avoided at all cost. Nothing about moderation, it makes you dumber with every spoon.

Take unrefined cane sugar or the gurh shakar.
