Nestle Pakistan and Akhuwat on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to empower Nestle Rural Women Sales Agents, enrolled under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP)

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2019 ) :Nestle Pakistan and Akhuwat on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to empower Nestle Rural Women Sales Agents, enrolled under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

For the purpose, the company provided Rs 2 million to Akhuwat to extend interest-free loans to the company-affiliated BISP beneficiaries in expanding their businesses in areas of Okara, Sheikhupura and Pindi Bhattian.

Speaking at the MoU-signing ceremony here, Company Chief Officer (CEO) Pakistan Freda Duplan said, "Today is a big day for our rural women sales agents as this partnership will allow them to avail interest-free micro-loan facility. It has been observed, when women have the power to make, spend, save and control their own money, they make gains not only for themselves but also for their families and communities." The company's BISP rural women sales programme, based on public-private partnership, focused on pulling the women benefiting from BISP out of poverty, besides creating sustainable solutions for addressing some of their key issues such as malnutrition and lack of livelihood opportunities.

To date, it has graduated 500 beneficiaries and this number would increase to 5,000 in the next three to four years.

Akhuwat CEO Dr Amjad Saqib was confident that the partnership would enable women to scale up their entrepreneurial ventures and eventually pull themselves out of poverty.

The company's Head of Corporate Affairs Waqar Ahmad spoke about the company's creation of shared value (CSV), long-term approach through collective action, and said that partnerships and support of stakeholders could ensure sustainable economic value in line with UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Firstly it was not a taunt just tongue-in-cheek reply....very disappointed especially since that is somewhat your tagline. I assure you I have never taunted or abused anyone here nor do I intend to. Secondly, Nestle makes enough to help out its own employees. Will they think about paying them well when they know someone else is supplementing their income? I doubt it.

We are talking about sales women...I am not so sure how much they earn nor do I have any idea about Nestle and how it deals with its people...Everyone hates them for their horrible bottled water...

I have no clue about the operations but I was under the impression that like in the West, there is something called corporate responsibility....since Nestle is from the West, I was hoping it would follow the same rules...

Exactly, that it is why this is not good but depressing news. You are quite right these sales rep do get little compensation for their door to door service, which is unfortunate. Nestle makes other things besides bottle water it also makes baby food, milk formula which these sales rep sell to the village folk.

makes baby food, milk formula
This I never got...

When gora came they were like oo backward people eat on leaves...now Dutch company makes plates out of leaves

When Arabs/ Desi/ Africans used to eat with their hands [something Prophet already told us]...Gora was like ewww dirty people...Now research shows our hand has enzymes which is good for initiating digestion and puts an ease on our stomachs when we use hands!

When gora invented milk formula - they claimed it is healthy ...desi women who used to feed their kids moved to this treacherous thing and now in West they advertise breastfeeding for 2 yrs is best [Another Sunnah] but gora wanna be desi hook their child to these expensive crap...I really dont understand...there is like 2 things at play:

1) Gora undermining anything desi/ African / indigenous and when they do the same and put a price on it...it is invention? and they are genius?
2) Gora worshipers allow such crap down their throats leaving behind sunnah?!

It is really annoying...
Ok wait I think I derailed! Sorry

Where were we?
