Nepali leader says India 'breaking international law'

Think of this strategically. By liberating the Terai plains you can also expand the chicken neck.

I am sorry but India is not looking at further expansion of its territories. We do well with what we have. Anyways, you are not hinting at a merger with India, right? So even if say you guys were to be an independent country we would still be outsiders.

NaMo's aim is to make India Vishwaguru not Vishwalootere.

merging with Madheshi land won't be a bad idea, as he said, it'll help expand chicken neck.

Time for Nepal to understand that Modi is much more strong willed than any previous Indian PM.

The sooner they realise and re-conciliate with the concerns of citizens bordering near India, it will be better for all.

Playing China card may not yield anything for Nepal for now.

Modi means business.

Terai people have relatives in UP and Bihar, I have cousins in India. I do not know a single Madhesi who doesn't. If India funds our groups to act as there proxies than you will have a strong allied state. Most would even be happy with a semi-autonomous region within the Indian Union.
Terai plains are an entirely fertile region as well which would be good for development.

We are close man. No disputing that fact, but your loyalty should belong to Nepal. I am all for whole of Nepal's merger with India but not in bits and pieces.

Yeah Right. 500 miles is much nearer than 50 miles :rofl:
Who is stopping them from getting their supplies from China ? Why cry a river when India stops the route ?? Why cant BD, Pakistanis convince Nepal to ditch India !!?

It is not a zero sum game. They should have alternate options for contingencies like this.

India is trying to get corridor through Bangladesh. What will happen if Indian trucks are not allowed in or don't make it through ? India can always switch back to their thousand mile trip around Bangladesh.

The Indians are not in a position to help Nepal at the scale they need, however Indians also won't allow Nepal to get the help they need from China fearing Chinese influence. The same was the case with Sri Lanka's Hambantota port where India played hard ball with financing consequently unwittingly allowing the Chinese to fill in. Unfortunately the Nepalese are landlocked, but the good thing is Nepal is landlocked international law compels India to provide corridor to and from Nepal.

This brings back the point that it appears India does not want its neighbor to do well.

It is going on more than fine. Nepal declared itself Hindu state and that is enough for the time being.
Hindu state,if so they would have never mistreat their own hindu subjects like madhesi as 2nd grade citizens just because of their distant Indian ancestry..It says they care about ethnic/race than anything hindutwa...same like Indian sanghis here in this forum, who deliberately uses the term hindutwa as a blanket cover to hide their frustrations and blind hate for minorities..

Go Nepal, China is a trustworthy and reliable partner unlike the poor and starving nation of india.

But dear, your bete-noir Myanmar is also offering a route to India.

And if Global warming projections are even half correct, India may get a sea route to NE in near future.
Brother, Myanmar does not connect ur two sides, Bangladesh does and that 539km sea route only applicable if BD gives u permission otherwise double length sea route to bypass BD sea territory LOL

BD's permission not needed for the sea route. BD's territorial sea only extends up to 12 nautical miles from the shoreline. Freedom of navigation is guaranteed for everyone as per international law beyond that point.

what about Maritime Boundary ?

what about Maritime Boundary ?

12 nautical miles is the territorial sea. Whereas the exclusive economic zone (maritime boundary) extends up to 200 nautical miles from shoreline. Exclusive economic zone though does not preclude freedom of navigation rights of other countries.
