Nepal is a tiny country but not a really progressive one.
This is Nepal's problem and a problem created by themselves and should be solved by themselves unless every side clearly asks India for help. They should be able to solve problems themselves in order to progress

I think you are a problem. Look Sri Lanka and the rest of South Asia must be united against India. India can only be defeated then. If Sri Lankan military is weak we can easily base ours there and make a multi prong attack on India. We have China on our side. Bangla Deshi people are with us. We can do it. We just need unity brother.

Violence, discrimination: In a first, India takes Nepal to the UN Human Rights Council


Taking a stand against Nepal for the first time at an international forum, India told a meeting of the UN Human Rights Council Wednesday that it was “concerned” over “lack of political progress” and incidents of “violence, extra-judicial killings and ethnic discrimination” in the Himalayan country.

Referring to the Madhesi protests against the new Constitution and zero-movement of trucks on the Indo-Nepal border — the Nepal delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa called it an obstruction — India said the “obstruction referred in the Hon’ble Minister’s statement is on Nepalese side caused by Nepalese protesters”.


Thapa, on his part, said: “Under any pretext, disruption of supplies, disruption of transit is not acceptable… Can’t Nepal have its own authority to promulgate a Constitution?”

Speaking at the Geneva meeting of the UNHRC called to discuss Nepal’s Universal Periodic Review, India’s Acting Permanent Representative B N Reddy said: “The people of Nepal, having endured a devastating earthquake in April 2015, are facing another tough challenge during the ongoing political transition. Violence and instability in parts of Nepal has worsened in the run-up to and after the adoption of Nepal’s Constitution in September 2015. Over 45 persons died, mostly civilians, and hundreds injured. Firings, which had ceased just after the adoption of the Constitution, have reoccurred. We are concerned over the lack of political progress.”

In his statement, cleared by the Ministry of External Affairs, Reddy referred to the protests by Madhesis against the new Constitution of Nepal: “We note the concerns expressed by UN human rights bodies, UN Country Team and Nepal’s own Human Rights Commission over continuing incidents of violence, extra-judicial killings and ethnic discrimination in the country. We urge the Government of Nepal to investigate and take credible measures to prevent their recurrence. Problems facing Nepal are political in nature and cannot be resolved through force or a security-based approach.”

As a close and friendly neighbour, Reddy said India has consistently appealed to the Nepal government to address all challenges in a spirit of dialogue and reconciliation.

He urged the Nepal government to take four steps:

* The Nepal government should “consolidate the constitution building and democratization process by accommodating all sections of Nepal to enable broad-based ownership and participation”.

* It should “ensure effective functioning of Truth and Reconciliation Commission and full implementation of its recommendations, including prosecution of those responsible for violent insurgency”.

* It should, “ensure the independence and financial autonomy of the National Human Rights Commission”.

* It should “set up an independent Commission for children and women”.

Nepal’s Deputy Prime Minister Thapa said nowhere in the world can there be any Constitution which is 100 per cent perfect. “It is a living document that can be amended… is owned by all sections of society,” he said.

“Under any pretext, disruption of supplies, disruption of transit is not acceptable,” Thapa, who held talks with the Indian leadership on “rerouting of trucks” a couple of weeks ago, said. He visited India last month and met External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said Nepal had incurred losses to the tune of $5 billion in the last two months: “For a country like Nepal, how much suffering can we go through?… Is that justifiable? Can’t Nepal have its own authority to promulgate constitution?”

Nepal turns to UN over ‘obstruction’ of trade point with India

Nepal has turned to the UN over alleged obstruction of a key border trade point with India that has resulted in acute shortage of essential goods as it appealed to the international community to ensure that land- locked countries’ freedom of transit is not curtailed.

Deputy Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh, who led Nepal’s delegation to the UN General Assembly, held talks with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon during which the issue of “India’s blockade” on the border also figured, sources close to Singh said.


Ban expressed his concern over the obstruction of essential supplies and the difficulties resulting from it, they said.

While addressing the General Assembly yesterday, Singh appealed to the world community to ensure effective and unhindered access to the sea for landlocked developing countries (LLDCs) like Nepal through effective implementation of the Vienna Programme of Action for 2014-2024.

“The world needs to ensure LLDCs unhindered access to the sea for free movement of people and goods. We stress that the freedom of transit of LLDCs should not be constrained under any circumstance or pretext to disrupt the flow of goods and services.

“The freedom of transit of LLDCs must be fully and unconditionally adhered to by all transit countries,” said Singh, also the Nepali Congress general secretary.

His remarks come at a time when Nepal claims to be suffering from scarcity of essential goods like fuel and cooking gas due to what it terms as “undeclared blockade” of a key trade point at the border with India by people protesting the controversial newly-promulgated Constitution.

India has rejected as “totally false” allegations that it blockaded the checkpoint and has emphasised that it can only take goods up to the border and beyond that it is the responsibility of the Nepalese side to ensure adequate safety and security for the trucks.

The Secretary-General commended Nepalese government and people on the adoption of the new constitution, according to a statement issued by the UN Office here today.

Ban strongly welcomed the decisions made by the Council of Ministers on October 1 to create the conditions for dialogue with agitating groups, including Hindu Madhesis who are Indian-origin inhabitants of the Terai region bordering India and opposed to splitting Nepal into seven provinces.

The Secretary-General also urged all parties to respond to the calls for dialogue and to resolve their differences in a peaceful and flexible manner. Singh had travelled to New York after Prime Minister Sushil Koirala cancelled his visit to the UN headquarters at the last minute due to the ongoing political unrest gripping the Himalayan nation.

Amid the scarcity of fuel, Kathmandu’s otherwise busy roads are seen empty these days with less than one third vehicles plying on the roads. Reports said taxis are charging four times the normal fare and people are resorting to carpooling.

Even though the government has rationed fuel – 10 litres for a car and three litres for a motorbike in a week, taxis are queuing up for two days at the petrol stations to fill their fuel tanks.

According to a news report, some 2.2 million students are deprived of going to the school due to the shortage of fuel resulting from the blockade.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Koirala asked India to resume the cross-border transportation without any delay. Addressing the Parliament, he asked India to end the blockade on Nepal without any delay so that Nepal can enjoy its right to transit.

Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba also said that India should lift the ongoing obstruction on the border soon. He pointed out the need to lift the ‘unannounced blockade’ to ease supply of essentials and petroleum products to Nepal.

He was speaking at a tea reception organised by Nepal Tarun Dal the youth organisation of the party in the capital today to welcome the newly-promulgated constitution. The blockade would ease soon through talks, CPN UML chairman K P Oli today said, adding that efforts are on to end the blockade through dialogues and relations between Nepal and India will further strengthen.

Oli, tipped to be the next prime minister, pointed out that a landlocked country like Nepal enjoys a right to access to sea routes.

He further said that the Nepalese people are happy with the promulgation of the constitution.

“Wrong deeds are being committed to spread rumours that the constitution fails to ensure rights of the Tarai people and such acts should be stopped,” he pointed out.

The Nepal-Tibet trading point at Tatopani, 110 km east of Kathmandu, which remained obstructed due to the recent earthquakes and landslides, has opened since yesterday.

With opening of the Tatopani route with China, the people of Kathmandu are expected to get some relief on the eve of festivals. However, officials said that the narrow roads will give access to small vehicles only and it will take few more days to widen the road so as to allow containers.

Fox news bullsh!t. Anyways such drinking from the cup killings are an everyday affair in India. Blasphemy law is more propaganda with little substance and is a far minor problem than lynching mobs of India who lynch muslims for any lame reason.

And yet the military is conducting operations during the rule of Nawaz sharif? Also Nawaz,Imran & jamat e islami were spared by Taliban (irrespective of the provinces )

Thry targeted other political parties like PPP,ANP, etc..

Meanwhile your politicians regularly insult other provinces... With many talking about buying women from other states for local men and whatnot... Is that your "unity".
