The Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoists has decided not to accept the outcome of the Tuesday poll which has the party fairing miserably across the country as the counting is in progress.
Party spokesperson Agni Sapkota said after an emergency meeting of party's senior leaders and central committee members that it has withdrawn its candidates from 'counting centers' and decided not to accept the verdict as "this is not what people wanted".
The unexpected announcement came when Maoist is trailing as a distant third , with its Chief Pushpa Kamal Dahal and other top leaders lagging far behind.
The UCP was the biggest party in the last constituent Assembly with 237 seats in the 601-member House.
Sapkota said there had been large scale bungling during the counting and "we feel we are being cornered".
"This is not what the people had wanted," he said.
Maoists alleged that there was a 'conspiracy' between the national actors and international forces to "finish us". "We will soon appeal to the people for justice," he said.
