Chaywanprash seems to be the equivalent of ayurvedic candy for old Indian people that actually is a nice harmless placebo - like Hajmola for kids that actually doesn't cure any ailments. It does have a nice sweet-sour taste.

It is a part of the pantheon of medicinal fairy tales that is popular in Indian life, religion and discourse. Indians are into promoting anything Indian as wonderful and superior to Western civilization which includes the wondrous properties of Ayurvedic medications. Some dumb westerners have actually bought into this B.S.

Sorry to say but Indians generally are at the first row of promoting this useless Eastern snake-oil medicinal B.S. in Western countries for personal gain and profit. One example is the 'Pop Philosopher' Deepak Chopra who is a legend in selling his B.S. His net assets run into the hundreds of Millions of dollars. The product? Nothing but misleading lies and basically telling people what they love to hear.

The need to promote everything Indian as superior comes from some deep-seated insecurity about reality in India and how generally effed up everything is in India (such as pervasive inhumanity in slums and poor sanitation). So even a little improvement in any mundane thing - such as getting nicer airports, public transports and a few business towers are seen as big achievements.

Yes,indeed.

how generally effed up everything is in Bangladesh (such as poverty,slums,malnutrition and hunger ). So even news about little improvement in any mundane thing

such as...

proposals for building nicer airports

soil testing for public transport infra

and a few low rise buildings ( which wouldn't look out of place in an Indian tier 3 city ) are seen as big achievements.
