Nepal asks India to ease supplies, calls protesters for talks

The perception that India is bullying nepal is going to damage us. Remember how we still talk about US sending aircraft carrier against us in 71. People have long memory in nepal too.

Perception do nothing, Fear, influence etc. do.
US is the most hated country in certain region but darling of their rulers.
KSA hold very negative perception in general population but does it hinder its influence.?
Goodwill in Nepali common people do zilch but slightly fear or influence do wonders.

I would like India to be loved than feared... like canada ... not like USA..

Everyone not have luxury like Canada to be US as neighbor or vice versa.
Politics run on motion (of bullets) not by emotion.

Gurkhas in India Army are Indian citizens.

Its a common misconception Gurkhas are only from Nepal, when many Gurkhas live in WB and Assam

Indeed, the IA has largely done away with recruiting Nepali Gurkhas in the past few years.

But how does India fight this perception? The current perception that India is the bully is just that- perception, the reality is that this is an entirely internal issue in Nepal but it is all too convenient for the Nepali politicians snd people to somehow spin this as an Indian scheme. Now if India tries to play moderator or make its case it is seen as a regional aggressor- it can't win.

well if US does, its reality... but if India does its merely perception? Indian leadership have history of interefing with neighbours, be it congress or bjp. This specific issue may not be true.

90% of fuel for Nepal comes from India .
Forget about fuel....they can ride bicycles...but what about ration..what they will eat? Grass?
Nepal's leaders should have never commited this mistake.

Nepal is simmering now. Non-Madhesis are pi$$ed of with Madhesis. Indian Government is acting like a bully. IMO India should not take sides. Madhesi protestors are taking India's tacit support as advantage in their talks with Nepali government. We are losing sympathy with Nepalis. India should not play any role except spectator in the internal affairs of Nepal.

All the BS soft-power we accumulate in countries like US amounts to $hit because USA is the biggest turncoat chameleon of international politics(with the exception of Israeli matters). They can turn over India on any day, to appease China or say to form an economic union with China or if India makes a friendly move towards China. They commit this perfidy whenever they think fit under the pretext of their 'interests'.

Softpower with countries like US is a waste. But we should deploy it beneficially in countries like Nepal. It is not India's place to play a power broker and lose its soft power.
