OK so I am a double nationality Pakistani American, If I were to hypothetically join the army, what requirements are there as far as education and testing?I can barely read Urdu(very poorly) but I know English well enough. Also, I know that the army provides for the family of the servicemen, but does this include parents as well?I wish to bring my parents back to Pakistan to live there, but they can't live there if there is no financial support.Policemen seem to have enough money to provide a family of five or six and they aren't paid as well as the the military servicemen. So basically, what type of testing besides physical can I expect and will the army make sure my family doesn't starve?

Urdu will be a problem for you. The written tests don't include Urdu, but you have to be proficient in it for general understanding of what's going on around you.

You will need to surrender your dual nationality before passing out.

Education is 12th grade or equivalent, 60% marks.

As for providing for your family, army does not provide anything for your parents. You get paid, you get allowances, you get discounts from CSD etc, you get a house, you get pension after completing a set amount of service, after retirement benefits after completing a set amount of benefits etc. BUt all that is for you. Only medical is extended for parents AFAIK.

A levels or equivalent with 60% ... urdu i dont think thts a big issue... as for tests.. overseas Pakistanis dont have to go through preliminary tests.... but u will have to go through ISSB.. Give up ur american citizenship... army provides housing for married officers while facilities like medical etc are also provided to the parents and family (excluding siblings) of the officers and Non commisioned officers alike...

Oh i see,and how much Urdu would I have to know?I can speak enough to carry on a conversation and understand most of it, but it is the high academic level urdu that I don't understand. Also is all reading and writhing in English, because that is my main concern?

You don't have to be a MA in Urdu! Just the basic so as to understand the conversation going around and to be aware of your surrounding.

I just looked up in a website and it mentioned that they won't allow married men to join as commissioned officers,is this true for overseas residence too?
