No, No. 1 interest should not be nationalist tribalism which in India's case is Hindutvad-driven. The Nation State aka The Modern Republic comes only from the relatively recent French Revolution of the late 1700s and that too for the reasons of abolishing feudalism and monarchy. However, feudalism and monarchy thrive in India now more than 200 years since.
No. 1 interest for anyone on Earth should be humanism and removal of all human-induced miseries. One can't do anything if now the Sun were to start dying and expand becoming a Red Giant and starts burning up the worlds and other objects around it including Earth. But humans on Earth can certainly remove things that are artificial and bring injustice, misery and oppression day in day out. Things like money, traditional irrationalism, the anti-democratic Anglo political system followed in Britain, USA, India, Pakistan etc.
Do the "laws of the land" include releasing of the nation's independence day those who wronged Bilkis Bano by gangraping her, smashing the head of her three-year-old daughter on a rock and slaughtering the remaining 13 members of her family who were escaping along with her and her daughter ?
The "laws of the land" certainly seem to include jailing progressives like Gautam Navlakha and jailing another progressive, the elderly Father Stan Swamy who wanted a steel glass with a sipper because he had neurological problems and couldn't hold the glass glasses which were constantly breaking but he was denied the sipper glass and he died while imprisoned but then these same celebrated "laws of the land" haven't jailed those Hindutvadi sadhu-sants-santinis who in the Dharam Sansad in Haridwar in December last year called for immediate genocide of two million Muslims and then when an international outrage erupted Yogi ji sent a police officer to "deliver notices" oh so politely instead of clapping them in chains and the Hindutvadi filth gathered there despite having given calls for genocide in the Dharam Sansad gave him a notice instead and asked him to be "unbiased" and Sadhu Yati Narsinghanand leading the gang said that he will be biased but in their favour and then they all laughed :

Hinduism has existed in India only for the last 3000 years and the Hindus came from Iran at that point - 1000 BC - and much before the Hindus had come those who established the Indus Valley Civilization about whom not much is known but they are supposed to have come from the Iraq region, but even before the IVC have existed the tribals throughout India. These tribals are the native people of India. You claim that you have picked a woman from their ranks and have made her president of the country but then you bomb them from the air in the jungles and have developed a land government force and militia force totally of more than 300,000 personnel. A country where news channels become dalaals of the Capitalists and culture-based irrationalists / oppressors is essentially a country gone to the dogs. Literally actually because there are now 60+ million just street dogs in India.

Entertaining ? Inventing various kinds of jihads including "Marks Jihad"; legitimizing Muslims tied to poles by police in Gujarat and flogged amongst cheering crowds of males and sadly females; progressives verbally lynched using fear words like "You are Tukde Tukde Gang !"; justifying dogs complaining about how the farmers protesting in Delhi are blocking the roads and not allowing their precious commutes to Goldman Sachs office in Greater Noida; a gang of pandits brought in three days before the lunar eclipse to discuss, very seriously, the effects that the eclipse will have on Hindu temples, on food, on water, on the human body, on non-human-animal bodies and the definitive outcome of Ukraine war... etc etc this is not entertainment but insanity.
