Some Hint about Nuclear Program - 2050:

Pakistan is seeking the latest Chinese technology to build over 1000 mw power nuclear reactor being developed by China.

“Pakistan is in discussions with Chinese companies for imports of the third-generation nuclear technology” Pakistan’s minister of science and technology, Mir Changez Khan Jamali said. The minister, who is in the country to attend Summer Davos World Economic Forum in Dalian, told state-run China Daily that he hoped the latest technology can be acquired by Pakistan in one or two years.

China has helped to build two reactors at Pakistan’s Chashma nuclear power plant, both of which were that of second generation technology, to produce over 300 mw of power. China had also announced to build two more such plants arguing that it has already informed the Nuclear Suppliers Group, (NSG) about it. China says it has committed to build it under the International Atomic Energy Association, (IAEA), safety supervision. However, China apparently has a problem in extending the technology as its own 1000 mw nuclear plants, besides more power plants, are still being developed.

China has been building its own 1000 mw nuclear power plants, but with American, Japanese and French technologies and cannot export them without permission from those

countries. According to the daily, China is developing its first domestic third-generation nuclear reactor, the CAP 1400, which is based on Westinghouse Electric Company’s AP1000 pressurised water reactor, and it will boost the unit’s generating capacity to 1,400 mw from 1,154 mw. But preparations for the construction of the first CAP 1400 unit, which were due to start this year were delayed after the Fukushima nuclear incident in March. Following the Japanese nuclear leak, the Chinese Government announced that it would suspend approvals for nuclear power stations and conduct full safety checks of all nuclear projects, including those under construction.

Pakistan plans to launch 'Badar' satellite for defence and commercial ventures
SLAMABAD: Expanding Pakistan’s presence in space for commercial and strategic purposes, SUPARCO, the National Space Agency, is planning to build its next scientific satellite in the BADAR series.

The proposed satellite will carry a number of engineering evaluation and scientific experiments, including those from R&D organizations, academic institutions and other national agencies. The second satellite is a part of Pakistan’s Space Programme 2040 envisioning making the country a major player in the field.

Pakistan has already successfully launched its first satellite PAKSAT-1R in collaboration with China last year. Paksat-1R project is of strategic importance. The satellite has been designed to meet Pakistan’s national needs. With PAKSAT-1R, having a mission life of about 15 years, SUPARCO has already acquired know-how and technology relating to the design, development, manufacturing, testing and launch of communication satellites to strengthen the capacity for indigenous design, development, manufacturing, testing and launching of communication satellites.

The second satellite would be another milestone for the country; however completion date of the satellite has not been revealed yet by the national space authority.

KARACHI, Sept 25: Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) is in the process of acquiring the global navigation satellite system (GNSS) in collaboration with China, which will give a boost to its satellite communication technology.

This was announced at the first symposium and exhibition on `Global navigation satellite system and its applications` held at a hotel on Tuesday. The two-day event has been jointly organised by Suparco and China Satellite Navigation Office.

Discussing the importance of the navigation system, Suparco chairman retired major general Ahmed Bilal said that the symposium and exhibition was the first milestone for a regularised development of this technology in Pakistan.

He said that the technology, which was emerging in Pakistan with great success and at a very fast pace, had tremendous applications in the field of surveying and mapping, construction and deformation monitoring, transport and aviation management, mining and agriculture among others.

`Pakistan is rich in mineral resources and an efficient system of surveying is the demand of our industry,` he said, adding that computerisation of land parcel had also been undertaken by the government, while the Civil Aviation Authority was planning to deploy space-based and ground-based infrastructure in line with International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) recom-mendations and assuring the transition to GNSS.

Mr Bilal thanked China for its continuous assistance to Pakistan that he described as `timely, reliable and selfless` and based on equality and respect for Pakistan`s national sovereignty. He expressed gratitude to the Chinese for choosing Pakistan for the first-ever BeiDou (technology) application and demonstration outside China.

`For Pakistan, China is not just the best of ourfiends;it is also an inspiration for economic development based upon scientific principles, he said.

Mr Bilal congratulated China also on achieving the longest-ever manned space mission and reaching the deepest-ever ocean depth by any manned research vehicle in the world.

Reciprocating the sentiments, consul general of China, Karachi, Zhang Jiaxin and China Satellite Navigation Office Director Ram Chengqi congratulated Suparco on its latest endeavour, and said that the symposium was the first step towards a joint collaboration between Pakistan and China in the field of GNSS.

`This would undoubtedly add a new chapter to our bilateral scientific and technological cooperation and will surely diversify the meaning of Pak-China relationship and cooperation, said Mr Zhang. The consul general assured Pakistan of his support in the field and vowed to propel the strategic partnership into a new phase.

Zahid Jamal of Suparco gave an audio visual presentation on the GNSS technology and its application across the world, particularly in Pakistan.

Highlighting economic importance of the technology, he said that currently the GNSS market was worth over $150 billion, and was expected to increase to $35 billion by 2015. He then explained in detail the applications of the GNSS in regions like digital map production for road vehicle navigation, public safety and disaster management, mapping and resource positioning, mining and quarrying among others.

Explaining how Pakistan can benefit from the GNSS, Faisal Ahmed Khan of Suparco said that given that the country had no existing infrastructure in this field, this was the time to capitalise on the technology. He added that this had provided Pakistan with both economic and strategic opportunities.

Mr Khan then declared that Suparco was now calling for technology companies, academic and research institutions and investors and venture capitalists to help boost this venture.

The symposium also included technical reports on GNSS` role in monitoring and management of vehicles and ships, precision positioning and GIS, presented by both Chinese and Pakistani speakers.

The audience was shown a visual introduction to BeiDou and its application in various fields.

The exhibition will be open to public on Wednesday as well.

Now Pakistanis boasting about renting chinese system . Indian gps will cover all asia including some parts of africa, I think Pakistan can collaborate in ours???
Chinese system is amost ready, while India is building one in nxt 2 yrs. China will not let Pakistan get any technologies from its system. Isro is currently fabrication these satellites for GPS. Collaborating with India, Pakistani scientists will see how satellites are made infront of them.

1: build at least 10 Nuclear plant of Average output 4000 MW like franch and china
2: Second get the teach from china or france .....if we can make bombs why not this put the resreach lab on that
3: third thing about money so energy is the biggest issue here without there is no development so stop some development project and build this
4: Passage of time all will start together and finish together will take 5-6 years that will be the source for next 60 years

and first of all stop begging ........

This actually is a great news that Pakistan is thinking beyond a three four year plan. If we start working now, we can set high aims for 2040 2050 and hopefully achieve them with proper planning, devotion and commitment!

one reason for this is that there is immense political pressure trying to stop us from making long range rocket (Space launch system) as it will make a ICBM that Israel cannot afford. many European nations wont be happy as well.
i hope is PTI comes into power in this election, we will get rid of foreign aids and thus foreign restriction will also go. this will surely help!

I know that SLV do help in ICBM but r also of diff types n payloads

Look at Iran its no where near Pak in terms of missile tech n experience but has a SLV n a successful space program

Even North Korea launchs satellites(although most of them fail) but these countries don't even have a 2,000 km BM
Pak has been making missiles for more than a decade now people on PDF talk about 4500 km Shaheen III but still Pak don't have a SLV even for mini satellites

not by the end of 2012 but at least by 2018-20 i m sure of it there is no problem with Finances just stop some development project ......b/w 8 years there will be 8 budget bills then you can calculate the expence that program is also for the next 60 years and the cheapest electicity

yeah I have the same question??? I think it is about being able to launch satellite from Pakistani soil and learn to build nuclear reactors from Chinese help.
