Tribune Online Report
For the first time ever in the history
of Bangladesh Army, two female
probationer pilots successfully
managed their single and dual flight
in the army aviation group in the
capital's Tejgaon Wednesday.
Captain Nazia Nusrat Hossain and
Captain Shahrina Bintea Anwar
completed their single and dual
flight by Cessna 152 aropic training
biman, said a statement issued by
the Inter Services Public Relations
Directorate.
Captain Nazia got his commission
in the Bangladesh Army Engineering
core on December 24, 2009, by
attending the 61st BMA long
course.
After ending all complementary
courses of the engineering core, on
November 16 last year, she joined
the Army aviation basic course 9.
She first proved her flight capability
by conducting her single solo flight
on June 18 this year.
On the other hand, Captain
Shahrina got her commission in the
Army Ordinance core on December
24, 2009, in the same BMA long
course and joined the Army aviation
course 9 on November 16 last year.
She conducted her first solo flight
on June 30 of this year.
The statement signed by ISPR
Assistant Director Rezaul Karim
Shammi said the addition of female
pilots in Bangladesh Army would
open a new horizon and the two
female pilots would work as a
source of inspiration for
Bangladeshi women.
Army aviation is the only flight
training organisation of Bangladesh
Army.
Since January 1, 1978, a huge
number of army pilots, all of them
males, received training there.
The organisation marked a new era
by training female pilots from
November 16 last year.

Congrats. Our countries usually ignore the potential and benefits of having women in the workforce. Airforces of Pakistan and Bangladesh challenge these old outdated customs of women staying at home...

In 2014, Nayma Haque and Tamanna-E-Lutfi had made history by becoming the first two female combat pilots of Bangladesh Air Force

Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) is set to send two female pilots as members of a United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic Congo for the first time in its history.

They are Flight Lieutenant Nayma Haque and Flight Lieutenant Tamanna-E-Lutfi, who will join the UN Organisation Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, said an Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) press release on Sunday.

In 2014, Nayma and Tamanna had made history by becoming the first two female combat pilots of Bangladesh Air Force.

Both of them are members of a contingent of 358 BAF members who will replace the current members of the mission in Congo, said the ISPR release.

It said the first team consisting 115 members will leave Dhaka for Congo on Wednesday and the remaining members would be deployed in phases.

A C-130 transport aircraft and six MI-17 helicopters with necessary ground support equipments would also be deployed in Congo.

Briefing the members of contingent at BAF Base Bashar at Dhaka’s Tejgaon on Sunday, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Abu Esrar urged them to discharge their duties with honesty, professionalism and sincerity and bring honour for the Air Force as well as for the country.

BAF started its journey to UN Mission by sending peacekeepers in Bosnia Herzegovina in 1993.

So far, 6,430 BAF members completed their UN peacekeeping missions in Kuwait, East Timore, Ivory Coast, DR Congo, Mali, Chad, Central African Republic, Sudan and Haiti.

We're all in the same boat...

I have been indifferent to the fair gender so much so that some immature friends raised questions about my manhood. I'm not trying to sound sanctimonious but that's the truth. But for the sake of having fun with friends, I just follow the flow within certain limits.
