Pakistan's energy problem, is it due to a lack of power plants and power infrastructure, or is it due to an inability to get the resources to power these plants?
It's all about money -- the power plants can produce the energy but they want to be paid -- in Pakistan, the govt came up with the idea odf what it calls "circular debt" - It is become fashion, it is good and just to live beyond your means - so not only do huge chunks of the population, especially politicians and bureaucrats, pay no or little taxes, they do not pay bills like electricity bills -- the power plants have to pay for their oil and gas imports, but they must get paid as well -- So the govt came up with the idea of "circular debt" basically it's "kicking the can down the lane", the govt ministries and the state enterprises instead of paying these power producers, circulate the debt amongst each other, that is to say they carry it on their books, over and over and over again - the net result is that the power producers don't get paid what they are owed - so they do not produce what they can, and everyday the demand grows more and more --
So since Pakistan refuse to follow proper economics and grow the economy, they instead grow the private fortunes of politicians, bureaucrats and their friends and family.
