What's new

Nawaz spent Rs60m on medical treatment from national exchequer, NA told

Excess use/ misuse/ lack of restrain/ lack of planning/ when using the national exchequer = corruption? :enjoy:

Those are claims which need to be proven in a court of law by due process. Without that, they are merely manipulative.

.
Can it be shown that any medical allowance was exceeded in an illegal manner and make a case for refunding the same, plus a fine?

The law needs to apply in every case of alleged misconduct. Selective moral outrage is merely manipulative.

Guess who made the law?

.
. .
There is a prescribed way to make and amend laws according to the Constitution which any PM must follow.
That's too difficult for him to do this law reforms.Opposition make it very difficult. He also doesn't have a very comprehensible majority in Parliament.

Those are poor excuses. As elected PM, he must follow the law and set the proper example. Otherwise he is no different than those who came before him.

I know but the main issue is that he also has many day light robbery experts personals in its arsenal.

What do the rules of the land say about health coverage provided to a serving Prime Minister? Were any rules broken?

THE PRIME MINISTER’S SALARY, ALLOWANCES AND PRIVILEGES ACT, 1975.

13. Medical facilities.-

The Prime Minister and the family of the Prime Minister shall be entitled to medical facilities in accordance with the Special Medical Attendance Rules:

Provided that he and his family shall ordinarily be entitled to receive medical treatment at his residence:

Provided further that the Prime Minister may, if so advised by his physician, receive medical treatment abroad or consult a foreigner or a physician other than his own and receive such other treatment as may be prescribed.

.
It does not matter who as long as the process is valid and applies to everyone equally as specified under the Constitution.

It does matter. They made the law to their own benefit, not for the benefit of the common people. A person of honor and morals would have stopped these knowing full well that the country is running on IMF loans and peoples basic needs are not being meet.

I would understand the need to go overseas for a treatment not available in Pakistan but he went to UK for a bypass. Plenty of hospitals in Pakistan provide this service. So why waste precious resources on the treatment abroad.

So he acted within those provisions?

So let us see PMIK make a new Pakistan and amend the laws. Actions, not mere election promises. Results.

I know but the main issue is that he also has many day light robbery experts personals in its arsenal.

Are you saying PMIK will be just as useless as those before him? I hope not! He is the the Last Great Hope.

PMIK has already banned overseas medical treatment of ministers and top officials, Now he should amend the PM's Privileges Act 1975.

ex PM Nawaz Sharif had also banned overseas medical treatment of gov. officials in 1997, this ban however was applied selectively only

So he acted within those provisions?

Apparently

That is the correct way if there is to be real change. Laws must be applied equally to all, but Pakistanis on PDF and off, seem to have an innate problem with doing this fairly. :D

He already banned it.

For ministers and top bureaucrats if I understand it correctly, not for the PM.

.
Its shame for him that he & his brother ruled Punjab for almost 24 years, but there is not a single hospital in Punjab, where he thinks that he should go for the treatment.
