In Rawalpindi, Shiekh Rasheed had political grip but gone are the days when he was admired. You need to visit Lal Havaile some day and see how lifeless it has become. He has close ties with the people of the area because he was very social but dont compare his personal credibility with political credibility.

Rawalpindi couldn't win seat for PPP even when Banezir Bhutto got assassinated among them and after 2 years of "good governance" of PPP, one can only expect the vote bank to go further down. Face of PPP is not Baneir Bhutto any more, its Asif Ali Zardari who has no credibility. Under these conditions, even if Aietazaz Ahsen opts to go for the election (Which is seriously doubt), PPP cannot win this seat.

Nawaz-Sharif has been criticized for soft opposition and not standing for the public interest when he should have. These allegations have taken his vote-bank down but he still enjoys the highest public support in Rawalpindi and elsewhere around.

I totally agree with your assessment but I still think Sheikh rasheed has a fair chance if nawaz sharif is not contesting from na-55.

I second your opinion ... people are not stupid and I think PPPP will support SR ... PLUS, NS and PTI/JI will be dividing each others' vote bank.
