LAHORE Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that

the Taliban and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz both opposed former military dictator Pervez Musharraf and, therefore, he is surprised that this common stance has failed to stop the Taliban from carrying out terror attacks in Punjab.

“Gen Musharraf planned a bloodbath of innocent Muslims at the behest of others only to prolong his rule, but we in the PML-N opposed his policies and rejected dictation from abroad and if the Taliban are also fighting for the same cause then they should not carry out acts of terror in Punjab (where the PML-N is ruling),”

he said at a seminar held here on Sunday to commemorate the services of late Mufti Muhammad Hussain Naeemi.



The chief minister said that extremism and terrorism were the result of wrong policies of the Musharraf regime and the country was now paying a heavy price for those policies.



The chief minister claimed that the PML-N pursued policies which were not dictated from abroad and said that his party had taken a forceful stand on the Kerry-Lugar bill because it compromised sovereignty, integrity and survival of the country and it still had some reservations over the law.



He criticised US policies in the region and said it was only concerned about its own interests.



He said that although other political parties had also raised their voice against the US law it was the PML-N which had played an active role and made it a serious issue within and outside parliament.



He said that despite the passage of two years, the government had not repealed the 17th amendment and promises made in this regard had not been fulfilled.

That politics for you. Even when nation is suffering, you are educating us of Nawaz Sharif political acumen.

Leadership requires to speak to engage in a dialogue too. Thats how clean politics is run. When someone is dumb and duffer like Nawaz, it only means he has no leadership skill or he can only take decisions, whatever they are, in secrecy or when they are forced on him.

Imran, rightly or wrongly has ignited a debate through his courageous stance. Being in Pakistan and all his property in Pakistan, he wants to live and die with you. Not some fly by night lootera group who has businesses and properties abroad.

Terrorism being a national issue needs debate not some closed door, 'say something do something else' trickery which for most of us is 'leadership'!

There is a tradition Halaku forces were outside Baghdad and alderman, Wazir's, darbaris, religious scholars were debating whether crow is halal to eat or not.

That's the weakness of IK, At this juncture of Pakistani history, we are in 11th year of WoT and if we are still debating what to do or not, then be ready to be damned. We are at cross roads where either we have to surgically remove the cancer growing inside us or to die with it.

How much IK mouth opening has stabilized the situation?

Instead of generalizing the situation, i'm specifically keeping this debate of "mouth opening" with respect to WoT not on other issues

Let me counter again entire political lot is jumping on IK/PTI so how can he alone fix it and what powers does he have to alone fix it when in APC entire political parties gave mandate to federal govt to talk with taliban and you come back jumping at IK do you people even read news before discussing topic. Why don't you talk about smart nawaz APC mandate that he himself on the record said we have been given power and we will sit with them talk...PS how much mouth shut has stabilized Pakistan you get pounded daily by it and it shows Pakistan is weak so they play it even more. All issues are related you can't run away from it WOT issue is no longer "mouth shut" issue it should be boldly discussed i am going to ask you to give me the success stories in 10 years how much have you gained 0% I believe, what guarantees do you have nawaz shut mouth and army ops in KPK will fix things there is currently no plan or strategy in place except for fight and fight, without funds you don't even have economy to sustain such fight you people can't keep asking or loans and charities from the world to help you fight. 10 years more and you people would be at the same level 1 believe it or not i careless you won't change anything with Ops and keeping mouth shut.
