Nawaz Sharif assures PM Modi of Pak support in Pathankot attack probe
New Delhi, January 5, 2016 | Posted by Parthshri Arora | UPDATED 16:59 IST
Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today called Prime Minister Narendra Modi and assured of all help in investigations launched into the audacious terror attack on Indian Air Force (IAF) base in Pathankot.
Six terrorists were killed in the attack which took place in the wee hours of January 2.
Sharif, who is currently in Sri Lanka on a three day visit, condemned the terror attack and told Modi that Pakistan will stand by India in fighting terror.
According to sources, Sharif has instructed National Security Adviser Nasir Janjua and Sartaz Aziz to coordinate with India and take action on leads provided by India.
On Monday, NSA Ajit Doval had shared leads with his Pakistani counterpart Janua and sought credible action based on it.
Sharif's 15-minute telephone call to Modi came hours after the US said that it expects Islamabad to act in bringing to justice the perpetrators of the Pathankot attack.
"The government of Pakistan has spoken very powerfully to this and it's certainly our expectation that they'll treat this exactly the way they've said they would," State Department Spokesman John Kirby said on the Pathankot attack believed to be carried out by Pakistani terrorists.

But the million dollar question is whether the Establishment will allow a thorough probe? Not a chance!
