  • PML-N has booked special trains for workers to reach Lahore.
  • Trains have departed from Quetta, Karachi for Nawaz's welcome.
  • Party is preparing for a grand welcome for Nawaz Sharif.
KARACHI/QUETTA: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders and workers are converging in Lahore from all across Pakistan for the party’s grand power show to welcome supremo Nawaz Sharif on October 21.

The party has booked multiple special trains to ensure that its supporters are able to attend the Minar-e-Pakistan rally.

Two trains from Balochistan, one from Naseerabad and one from Quetta, have left for Lahore while a large number of PML-N workers led by the party’s provincial leadership departed from Karachi's City Railway Station.

These special trains have been decorated with party leaders' pictures and flags.

PML-N Karachi President Salman Khan shared that 5,500 workers had approached them for tickets but they could only accommodate 3,000. "The rest of them will be sent to Lahore via bus."

Former governor Mohammad Zubair, while speaking to the media at the station, said that they were aware that the enthusiasm will keep on rising.

“Such a big number of people have not travelled from Sindh for a political rally before this,” claimed Zubair. He added that Nawaz will speak about the welfare of the people in his address and that the PML-N is developing an agenda for the people.

On the other hand, the situation also turned embarrassing for the PML-N as multiple workers started protesting over a lack of space on the train. They called on the party leaders to respect them as they also wished to go to Lahore.

However, they were later provided seats.

Meanwhile, another special train will depart from Hyderabad at 3pm today led by PML-N Sindh President Shah Muhammad Shah.

A convoy has also left from Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s Muzaffarabad to reach Lahore led by Dr Mustafa Bashir.

Bashir claimed that more than 10,000 Kashmiris will be at the Minar-e-Pakistan for the mega rally.

Stage set for Nawaz’s hassle-free homecoming

A day earlier, all the legal hurdles in the smooth return of the PML-N supremo were finally removed after he was granted protective bail in two graft cases, while his arrest warrant in the Toshakhana case was also suspended by an accountability court.

The three-time former prime minister had approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for bail in Al-Azizia and Avenfield references, which approved the pleas, granting him bail till October 24.

Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif has reached Dubai where he will meet the party leaders and spend a busy day in the Gulf state. He also had a meeting today with a key UAE figure.

This could set a precedence for political parties who rely on mob culture and music festivals to attract a politically inclined crowd.

Lahore prepares for historic PML N rally as Nawaz Sharif set to make political comeback

NAwaz Sharif return
Ahead of the much-anticipated return of the former prime minister after four years in exile in London due to health issues, preparations have been finalized to welcome Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif.
Sharif, who was ousted from power in 2017 on corruption charges, has been living in London since then. He has always maintained his innocence and has vowed to return to Pakistan to clear his name.
His return is expected to be a major event in Pakistani politics, with his supporters and detractors both eagerly awaiting his arrival. His supporters see him as a messiah who can lead the country out of its current economic and political crises, while his detractors, on the other hand, accuse him of being corrupt and unfit to hold office.
The PML-N is organizing a massive rally to welcome him back to the country. The rally will be held at the iconic Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore, the capital of Punjab province.

The party has also been mobilizing its supporters across the country to come to Lahore for the rally. Trains and buses are being arranged to transport people from all over Pakistan to the city.
A grand stage, spanning 80 feet in width and soaring 40 feet high, now graces Lahore’s Greater Iqbal Park as preparations for a significant event at Minar Pakistan are being finalized. Notably, a secure, bulletproof cabin has been meticulously installed on the stage to accommodate Nawaz Sharif.

Organizers have proudly disclosed that an impressive array of 400,000 chairs adorn the auditorium, with potential plans to further increase seating capacity as the rally’s commencement approaches.
Scheduled for an 8 pm visit today, PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif, senior vice president Maryam Nawaz, and Hamza Shahbaz are slated to inspect the preparations at Minar-e-Pakistan. A keen focus will be placed on scrutinizing the venue, stage, and overall setup during their visit.
Anticipation is running high within the party, with an extensive turnout of enthusiastic PML-N supporters expected from not only Punjab but also various regions across the nation. In fact, reports suggest that party loyalists have already begun to converge on the location in anticipation of the event.

As per PML-N sources, the rally is set to kick off at 4 pm tomorrow [Saturday], with a gradual arrival of party leaders throughout the day. The highlight of the event is anticipated to be Nawaz Sharif’s address, scheduled for 9 pm.
The ongoing preparations will persist until the commencement of the event. Notably, security arrangements have been entrusted to the local administration, as previously communicated to the Muslim League (N). The event is poised to be a momentous occasion, with all eyes on the proceedings unfolding at Minar-e-Pakistan.

Security concerns: Dar refuses to disclose Nawaz Sharif's arrival airport

Former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar refused to disclose the name of the airport where Nawaz Sharif’s chartered plan will be landed, citing security reasons. “After a short stay in Islamabad, Nawaz Sharif will go to Lahore and address the rally,” he said.

Dar said Nawaz Sharif will return to Lahore after a brief stay in Islamabad. He said courts gave judgments based on justice. Talking to the media persons in Islamabad, he said that all the cases against Nawaz Sharif were fraud and evidence has now come in front of the public.

CAA allows chartered flight of Nawaz Sharif

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) granted permission for a chartered plane of a private company of Dubai, carrying PMLN supremo Nawaz Sharif, to land at Islamabad International Airport and Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore.
Nawaz Sharif’s plane will be landed at both airports after the permission of the CAA Air Transport Department. A private aviation company from Dubai requested landing permission for the flight. The CAA gave instructions for special arrangements for Islamabad and Lahore Airports.
