DHAKA: A 320-member team of Bangladesh Navy left Shah Amanat International Airport, Chittagong, by UN Chartered plane for Lebanon on Friday.

The navy team have been deployed in Peacekeeping operations under the banner of the United Nations interim force in Lebanon, said an ISPR release.

Rear Admiral M Farid Habib, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (operations), bade farewell to the Lebanon bound team at the airport.

The Navy team will bring name and fame in the international arena and also add huge amount of foreign currency, hoped Habib.

He also added that it will open a new gateway for more deployment of Navy personnel in the UN Mission.


Bangladesh Navy Warships have been contributing directly to the UN peacekeeping operations since 2010.

High naval officials of Chittagong area were present on the occasion.
