LCA NP-2 inches closer to first flight

Second home grown Single seater carrier-borne fighter aircraft NP-2 (naval prototype) has been cleared to carry out Taxi trials and is inching towards its first flight said sources close to idrw.org . NP-2 has cleared all ground testing and will be carrying out series of Slow Speed and High speed trials before first flight .
NP-1 which is a trainer variant carried out first flight flew on April 2012 for 22 minutes after taking off from HAL airport in Bangalore. NP-1 recently cleared test flights from STOBAR (short take off but arrested recovery) aircraft facility in Ins Hansa Naval base in Goa .
ADA will also be developing two more prototypes (NP-3 and 4) which will help in testing of Naval LCA variant , while aircraft which will serve Navy from aircraft carrier will be Naval LCA MK-2 which will be powered by more powerful General Electric F414-GE-INS6 engine with 98 kN of thrust and refined aerodynamics.
