I think with adequate submarine force (with possible SLCMs) and some more F-22Ps would do the job nicely if Pakistan is able to tweak Raad for Antiship Role...we can effectively keep IN at bay...

i think the matter pertains more to da industries of pakistan.to build a dozen ship yards is no problem......to sustain them is.the key element of ship building..steel... is something pakistan is lagging behind.the state run steel mills is in a very bad shape.once our economy picks up and our industries get their mark,building potent pltforms for navy (even airforce)will not be much of a problem......

The point that the article is trying to make (and which you are missing) is that the current Pak naval inventory is not capable of preventing a blockade by the Indian navy if things go worse.

Its not only abt guarding coastlines but preventing India from blocking your sea routes.

Agree with you. I did not read the entire article but i do agree with headline that Pakistan Navy lags far behind India.

that comparison is funny. indian navy cannot be compared with pakistani navy. they don't have carrier, nuke sub, good destroyer, frigate etc.

Why state the obvious and be smug? We've barely reached a considerable capability even though our navy has put in some really good work to encourage indigenous production. We've got a long way to go before we can flaunt our abilities to the world. Before we can do that, we need a strong underwater force, which is abysmally poor right now.

I think the point should now be to compare IN to PLAN, USN, RN, RuN, FN, etc which are already ahead and draw inspiration from them to develop and advance further.

The main hitch in IN is its submarine fleet. That needs some serious looking into.

Comparing Indian And Pakistani Nay is just unfair......Pakistani Navy is sufficiently capable to protect its coastline and our Navy has to defend a coastline bigger or almost the same as the USA...

You r right partially.IN is upgrading kilo class,which are pillar for Chinese navy also. IN submarine fleet much weaker for a blue water navy, but still stronger for Pak navy. But by 2020 some 12-15 new submarines,including few nuclear, will do a better job.But what will be the game changer for IN is that, addition of some very advanced anti submarine equipments.

dont think so because because IN has 10 Kilo class Subs and all have been upgraded
IN has type 209 sub 4 which have been re-fited recently and will have a good long life...
India has ordered 6 Scorpene subs
India has ordered 6 Arihant class nuclear subs
India has leased 2 akula class nuclear subs
India is going to order 6 more subs within 2 years
so with this we will have a great Navy

where as Pakistan navy has 5 subs with 2 old agosta 70 subs which will be decommissioned
then it will be left with 3 subs
and PN has not ordered any new subs till now...................

I think even though we have some problem with submarines in BT its gonna be alright by 2013 till then we have 10conventional 2 nuke sub in fleet with lot of new stealth frigate,destroyer,stealthy corv,stealthy ASW and a aircraft carrier going to join navy soon..still a big punch for any navy.And you never know india it can directly procure used kilo class from russia in between lol.
