KABUL: Nato wants to get relations with Pakistan back on track “as quickly as possible” to reopen its key supply route for foreign troops fighting in Afghanistan, a coalition spokesman said Monday.
Pakistan closed Nato supply route to Afghanistan in November, choking supply line for the 130,000-strong US-led force, following a deadly air strike by the alliance force that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers on the border.
Islamabad had rejected the coalition’s report that blamed the incident on mistakes by both sides and has not said when it will reopen the route.
“We have an interest…for Afghanistan that relations with Pakistan should normalise as quickly as possible,” said Brigadier General Carsten Jacobsen.
“We are aware that there are things that are not travelling to Afghanistan because they are stuck at border control points.
“It mainly affects the economy, wages and work for people who are in the transport business in Pakistan and Afghanistan.”
The spokesman for Nato’s International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) however sought to allay concerns among Afghans that the route blockage would force the coalition to buy locally and force a hike in the price of fuel and food.
A Pakistani official earlier said that Nato military vehicles and supplies were piling up at the docks, with truck drivers unable to drive them to the northwestern border to cross into Afghanistan.
“At present, a total of 3,676 military vehicles and 1,732 containers belonging to Nato forces are at the port,” a port official told AFP on condition of anonymity.
It was reported earlier, that the US has decided to export all its cargo, including military hardware and arms, out of Pakistan.
Sources told Express News that the break in supplies has frustrated US authorities to the point where they are now weighing various options to move around the cargo stranded at various locations in Pakistan.:woot:
The deadly incident heightened tensions in an already fragile relationship between the US and Pakistan, with Pakistani officials alleging deliberate US targeting of their troops at border posts.

A Black hawk getting Down...
I repeat commander ... A black hawk is getting down...;)

.
No need to open supplies , wait after elections new parliament comes , it should debate on the issue make a full agenda and demands list , then it should be approved by new government , then present to nato and usa if they accept it, then it might or might not open.

These kind of decision should only be take in parliament after discussion.

Wait till next election?... It will absolutily make conditions more difficult for NATO.... and they might start thinking to support mid-term elections to be held in Pakistan and formation of new government as hurry as possible:).... The conditions of Our current government is getting worse plus this external pressure... I've doubt on government will take some decisions with full of blunders as we've seen in past...
As far as supplies stopage and its effect on troops cocerned... I'm pretty sure that there own troops in a-stan are also cursing NATO for the act they'd done and May be those supply transporters are also thinking same.....;)

Look at how concerned they are about our economy.. Pakistan must allow NATO to do everything they want but money which transporters earn on either side of the border is primal than any other thing.

Also realize how concerned they are and the best they could think in Pakistan's point of view is that.. $HIT man.. how sick they are.

NATO supplies must not open and Pakistan must make a policy which is supportive for the Afghans, not against them. NATO supplies will be used against Afghans and Pakistan must not allow that.

Bro! NATO looks like is being too much frustrated... and there informers don't know wat to say ... The impression they are giving is like "The supply route must get open because transporters are facing economical crisis". That statement looks more like mis communition among NATO officers .... They are not being briefly explained...
and then their coalition report's claimed that the incident on mistakes by both sides .... Does it make sense?

Supplies must not be resumed , they cannot be resumed
Suppliying these scumbags will be like feeding some wild animal that will only attack you later on.
It makes perfect sense to not open the supply routes and keep them shut indefinitely

.
NATO Must reopened the supply......
NATO another way to reopen supply........

Actually they badly need us because they only get food stuff and other facility from Russia and other areas and Russian didn't give them permission to send their arm from their areas and they supply their armed hardware via air and it cost them times expensive then Pakistan route. If Russia allows(which is not possible) then the expense will reduce to three time of Pakistani route which is also an expensive compromise. Based on current economic issues in USA and Europe there only best possible way to their transection is Pakistan.

WHere are all the Indians, and their supposed Northern route theory?

Nato is having its 1 testicle squeezed so badly that i dont believe they can take much more. Pakistan MUST keep the border closed and turn the pressure on. We all are aware the supplies are drying up and time is running short for them. I am pleasantly surprised at the stasnce the Pakistanis have taken so far. I sincerely hope they see the benefit of the patience they are showing and not cave in to external pressures.
BTW - lets make sure they have no supplies of chicken - thats gonna hurt them big style!! :azn:

I think by this time NDN to be working at 100% capacity, as there were only 30% supplies through Pakistan which is dangerous route to be shifted to secure routes. As in 2014 NATO have to leave AF, so ultimately these transporters have to find alternate.

We must keep all Nato/non-nato supplies block, once they leave than we can talk to actual afghan govt. about their previous security pacts and our future relation with them. No hurries take your time, think and plan for 2014 we still have 2 years.

Where are the Indians? :coffee:

The Americans kill dozens of your soldiers intentionally, do not give any meaningful explanation and then ask you to go back to being their muse because you cost the least, and you call upon Indians for what ? To watch the show ?

Commenting on the article:

Pakistan is not the only supply route but it is the only free supply route.

Where as Pakistan wish NATO to respect its sovereignty and explain terrorism in Pakistan originating from Afghanistan.

If NATO term Pakistan as partner than why is Pakistan anti terrorism forces are handicapped... having no access to attack helis and armed drones?
