NATO Shifts Supply Lines Away From Pakistan To Central Asia

More than over-estimating Chinese influence on Russia it is actually over-estimating the Pakistani influence on China

BTW I guess the Pakistanis will now be happy and Indians too will be happy. No more F-16s or LGBs or AMRAAMS in the name of WOT.

Just to remind your Indian brain once again, Pakistan paid for the F-16s Block 52s and the Amraams!

.
Do you think allowing NATO's supply lines through Pakistan is our only leverage? Well, think again.

Yes it is!! ..you very well can not stop fighting..as it is your war now!!..as soon as you lessen the pressure on Taliban by stopping operations , these guys will be back in your cities and you will back in your 2008 situation.

Once US Is out of Afghanistan, We'll sort it out ourselves. But you didn't get my point. I was referring to the US's withdrawal from Afghanistan in which they need Pakistan's help.

Let NATO chose a longer more expensive route. The more money they spend in this war OF terror and longer it takes them to get comfortable in Afghanistan, then the sooner NATO will leave Afghanistan.

All Central Asian countries are landlocked countries and Russia is far, far away from Afghanistan. We'll see how NATO will be getting their supplies from Russia through Central Asian Republics into Afghanistan in the dead of winter at the end of this year. Pakistan should withdraw from this war OF terror before winter time and deny NATO supply route through Pakistan.

I love where Pakistan is located in the world map :smitten:
Western-Asia-Political-Map-2000.g

you love location of pakistan in world map ........ and i enjoy the location and countries around us get jealous ................
and usa wants exit USA needs to bend a little bit in front of pakistan to exit

.
no infact we will not loose the only leverage against us ..... we will play double then ..... we will ask china to pressurize russia over routes and off-course atleast 50% of routes will remain with pakistan they cannot shift it all to uzbik ......... now it all depends to our top brass of army and top leadership how they handle it

China cannot pressure Russia. Or Russia will not do anything because they ave support on US regarding Afghanistan thanks to Chechnya and business.

Do yo mean they need your bases to airlift their men or need your ports to ship their equipments?
Coz because both these can be carried out without Pakistani involvement too.

Besides Pakistan has been fighting this war on its own terms uptill now.
You made peace deals when you wanted, you launched operations when you wished and in the areas you have wished..
You have gone after certain specific groups while ignored the others...Only consistent thorn in your side has been constant, unending US drone attacks.

US is spending close $50 billion/yr in Afghanistan , how will it matter if they spend couple of billion dollars more on secure supply lines?

Then why didn't they spend an extra couple of billion dollars on a new route from Russia few months back when NATO killed Pakistani troops and Pakistan government closed down NATO supply route, and then after a couple of days NATO was begging Pakistan to re-open the supply route.

Because it is not magic..that one fine day you will get up say..I need a new supply route and you will instantly get it.
You have build on it, carry out negotiations with multiple countries, settle on payment and then only you will have a smooth supply line through there...seems they are ironing their differences out now.

It is goood, it will make supply slow process, time, and more costly. Moreover, Russia monitor every trucks which is uneasy for US.

Remember, last time US used Northern areas through Russia route, it didn't work well. Bad for US economy.

Gotta love these Indians. It's amazing how they twist everything. The US has been talking up "alternate supply routes" for half a decade, there are huge logistical problems. We're not looking to keep the US here, infact alot of problems happen wherever the US goes. We didn't have these well-funded and well-supplied terrorists getting supplies from Afg before the US. We did have them when USSR, the prev. biggo superpower came here and their intelligence agency people staged bombings, like the CIA does now with their raymond davis types.

These lovely Indians cherish and celebrate everything that could potentially undermine us - like them being on a buying spree and when despite after their spending tens of billions on multiple deals Pakistan still manages to maintain quiet a credible and effective deterrent against any adventures, they try to weasel around that by getting Brazil to stop missile shipments or aircraft deals. Their crooked and malicious humour and thinly veiled words still betray a strong stench of pettiness. Too bad it's still not working out for them though, for now the US still needs Pakistan.

And even in the times they didn't Pakistan managed to perform quiet effectively. Even if we don't get any more F-16s the JFT is proving to be quiet an effective platform, just look at how it surprised western audiences at Farnsborrough. And please don't bring up comparisons to LCA, I'm sure it's very nice and all that. But comparing something that actually exists to a paper tiger is just too much duplicity to stomach.

You're still not getting it. I mean to exit Afghanistan the US needs some sort of arrangement in place; like some sort of seize-fire or a peace deal and a working Govt. in the country to show the world that they have achieved their goals and they did what they had promised, in other words they have justified this 10 year long war. And for that they need Pakistan's help in order to broker a deal with Hakkani network and some other Taliban groups.

.
its a good idea, esp since US/ISAF dont operate anymore through pakistan using our infrastructure. now its just ferrying oil/petrol to afghan thru pakistan. let them pay more for their war effort if they want to.
