Also the foreign terrorists have been here for a long time now and are independent of any local groups as far as their survival is concerned.

Pakistanis due to the US moving the supply routes(well 50%) out of Pakistan.

Central Asian countries due to oppurtunity to make some extra revenue.

Indians due to the fact that Pakistanis will have less bargaining chips with U.S. which means greater role in Afghanistan for us.

What actually happens is for us to see and the Americans(Nato) to do.

Getting reimbursed for highway damage,Financial AID given vs losses incurred by Pakistan, is between Pakistan and NATO.

I agree with the power balance in Afghanistan as you described it as of Now.

We will see how less or more Aggressive the US will be vis-a vis Pakistani military co-operation if/when the supply route is changed.Beacuse supply lines are the only other thing they depend on you for.Also by moving or proposing to move the supply routes they have made amply clear to Imran khan and GOP that Drone strikes will not stop.
What makes you think that US have forgotten how to use the 'bomb you back to stone age' line now.
Your guess is as good as mine when it comes to the new(read more open) Russian role in Afghanistan.
So lets wait and watch.

Sorry, i joined later but this move is un-believeable.
No country will allow free transit and US cannot sustain a long war while it pays for the transit all the time.

This will result in gradual US pull out or it is not happening.

There is no way invasion of Afghanistan will end till the thrid world war... so guys beat it and stop discussing it.

Thats not what US (atleast as per most of the media news) believes. It thinks ISI had been responsible for warning off key targets and has been supporting the Taliban secretly. Again, right or wrong, this seems to be the conclusion they are coming to...

What appears in media is (most often) not the reality. In wars media is for propaganda, psychological warfare and pressure, distortion of truth and to make your own people believe that "we are winning" so that they continue to support you (remember vietnam !!!). Therefore, media is not a benchmark to assess the policies and objectives.

Your 2nd point is that right or wrong this is the conclusion they are coming to. Again, we all know that when a power like US "wants to come to a conclusion" then there is a "reason" behind it. For example in 2003 they "wanted to come to conclusion that attacking Iraq is the right thing"; so they created every arguement and twisted every fact to achieve what they wanted to achieve (even that Colin Powell presented false evidence in UN). Therefore, what we NOT need to think is that what conclusion US is coming to but WHY they want to come to this conclusion, WHAT is their objective ?

Maybe you should be concerned of your own country, I mean recently 300 prisoners did escape, wouldn't you call that negligence from the Afghan law enforcement. You talk about how the Taliban won't forget Pakistan, but rememeber your government would be the first in the hit lists which they would want to take revenge, alot of them still have the memory of Kandahar. So my advice is Afghanistan has used the pity card fot too long, instead of complaining in what your government prones to do alot take action.

So if Pak government stops NATO supplies from passing through its soil, this means even the last excuse of fencing the borders for EVERY country's government is invalid. In this case, what happens to the borders now????
