KARACHI: A Russian-made cargo plane belonging to a foreign military has been force-landed in Karachi airport, on the directives of Pakistan Air Force, Geo News reported Wednesday.

According to sources, the Pakistan authorities forced the plane to land in Karachi after it entered Pakistani airspace.

The cargo plane took off from Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan and was supposed to fly to Al Maktoum International airport in UAE.

Usually this kind of cargo planes are used to carry Nato supplies to Afghanistan, sources said.

Checking of the plane is underway and its crew is also being interrogated.

A Dubai-bound foreign cargo plane from Afghanistan was forced to land at Karachi airport on Wednesday when its presence in Pakistani airspace was found suspicious by aviation authorities.

“I can confirm that the plane was coming from Afghanistan, bound for Dubai and was forced to land at Karachi airport,” Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesman Pervez George told The News

Sources said the military cargo plane that took off from Bagram airbase and was going to Dubai when it ventured into Pakistani airspace. Its pilot appeared to be confused about its ‘call sign’ and after consultation with security forces; Air Traffic Control directed the plane to land at Karachi airport at around 3:58 pm. They said the foreign military cargo plane was a Russian origin Antanov 124 and its flight number was VDA 1455.

Sources said the plane was thoroughly checked by the authorities for several hours and later it was allowed to take off at 7: 40 pm.

:what: Any reason for this forced landing?

NATO is surely crossing their limits and on the move of their evil plannings against Pakistan nuclear assets.

they are testing us before anything big and our corrupt politician is sleeping tight.

Can't wait to see how this issue will be played out. My bet is on that Pakistan will ultimately back-off and let the plane go, with a hurt honor and dignity, as it always happens in such situations.

They entered in Pak airspace without prior approval or notification and were suppose to go to Dubai, two warnings were given before PAF scrambled.

Amazing... Finally we are restricting them airspace!

They should reveal what was in the plane!

They may have been there to conduct a mission. How many personnel were on board?

This seems strange.

Yesterday, the flight number was RTR, Romeo tango Romeo, those aircraft don't have any weapons.

But this flight number, VDA, Victor Delta, this could mean something fishy. Because Victor and Whiskey numbers carry weapons from Afghanistan.

But I am 90% sure that yesterday the An-124 was a RTR, and not VDA.

And it was nothing, but a simple case of mixed up schedules.

Dont get you hopes high.
