Depicting the ruthless killing of Kashmiris on the hands of cruel Indian forces, students from different schools of Rawalpindi and Islamabad expressed solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren in a colourful event organised by Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) in collaboration with Azad Jammu & Kashmir Council here Wednesday.
Students expressed their longing for an independent Kashmir through items including a puppet show by the National Puppet Theatre, tableaus depicting the plight of Kashmiris, folk dances on Kashmiri songs, national songs, a magic show, speech contest on the illegal Indian occupation of Kashmir, and a painting competition.
The participating schools included the names of The City School, Beaconhouse School System, Hassan Academy of Special Education, FG Model School for Girls G-7/1, Bright Land Secondary School, Al-Farabi Special Education Centre, Anglo Arabic Public School and Govt Post-Graduate College for Women, 6th Road, Rawalpindi. Besides schools, the National Performing Arts Group (NPAG) of Islamabad and Ali Zeb Group also enthusiastically participated in the event.
The event started with the excellently presented puppet show that grasped the attention of the audience and kept them glued to their seats through their humorous and witty dialogues, followed by folk dances and a hilarious tableau. The tableaus presented on the occasion advocated peace and condemned Indian forces that are engaged in mayhem against innocent Kashmiris. The students symbolically represented a tranquil Kashmir with white fairies and the barbaric acts of Indian troops through black-faced people.
The most appreciable feature of the show was the participation of special children, who although were not able to hear and speak, yet they participated enthusiastically and performed brilliantly on different items. The children not only danced marvellously on various songs but also carried intense expressions on their innocent faces, strongly condemning Indian atrocities in Kashmir, and called for the international community to play its effective role in bringing a halt to the Indian brutalities in occupied Kashmir.
The mentally retarded children of Al-Farabi Special Education Centre sung beautiful patriotic songs that urged the freedom of the earths paradise called Kashmir from the clutches of Indian forces.
The NPAG also gave a wonderful presentation of the fairyland of Kashmir where people led contented lives but the Indian occupancy ruined their happiness and joy. The group also depicted romance among young Kashmiri boys and girls in the dreamy ambience of the valley where blooming flowers, gushing waters and high mountains cherished their love.
A young student, Rafia Bano, of Beaconhouse School System sung the legendary patriotic song Aye Puttar Hattan Te Nai Wikday, compelling the audience with her forceful performance to sing with her.
More than 100 students from different schools also participated in a poster competition arranged on the occasion in which they portrayed the merciless killing of Kashmiris by Indian troops along with depicting a ray of hope for the independence of the valley from Indian brutality
