Nation celebrates Pahela Baishakh

Thanks for the very nice pictures from West Bengal. In Bangladesh, it is not that we celebrate the occasion only in the streets. Many years ago, there were only cultural programmes throughout the country. I have posted a news from Bengali newspaper that lists the main such events in Dhaka.

Now-a-days people have started to celebrate the event in the streets. Even during the '50s the event was limited to cultural events only. But, year after year it has been spreading among the mass, whereby everyone participates. So, it has become a mass celebration.

@Al-Zakir, when the street celebrations have developed in our land only recently with additions of many more events each year, how do you explain your complaint that these are all WASTAGFERULLA events? So, go out with your small children and let them enjoy the innocent melas.

Shutki Mach is delicacy of highest order, and only a true Bengalis have it in them to enjoy it!

Yes, Shutki is a delicacy if cooked/prepared properly. By the way, HILISH and PANTA BHAT are also two ingredints that we eat in the morning to celebrate Pahela Boishakhi. Price of 1 kg. HILISH rises to Tk1,500 or more on this day. It is crazy, but it is true.

I was expecting this kind of reply and it shows the reality on the other side of the border. Now, I hope Al-Zakir will feel free to call Boishakhi festivals celebrated in Bangladesh as our own culture and not borrowed from or diluted that much by the Hindu culture, custom or habits.

Cheers for Al-Zakir, please make some positive comments about all these festivals which have Bangladeshi roots. Ask your grandmother not to utter wastagferulla by seeing some of these in the TV. These have nothing to do with SHIRK, then why wastagferulla? Stone headed Al-Zakir seems to be still young. So, I ask him not to take offence at something that he cannot control. It will make him a patient of blood pressure.

Great thinker and philosopher like East Watch scare me with his naivety. You are older than me and you know very well that this celebration and other melas are imported from Hinduani culture although you decided to ride along to seize the moment. If this continue and educated people like you support it then I suspect Bangladesh has no future as Muslim nation. It will be transformed into a hybrid Hindu culture nation. Islam will be confined in a form of ritual practice in side Masjid as it has been prescribed by Tagore loving Islamic name Mushriks and murtids. Please go ahead. Don't let my presence get in your way.

Do not want to bring politics here, at all, but AL minded people don't even missed that chance to bring politics here. Here the crocodile is the symbol of "RAZAkAR", as the news channels are saying so. My question is why AL has not spared this day even. Motiya Chowdhury gave her speech on 71, razakar and war criminal on that day. Even she has said that: she/AL will not let BD turn into PK. My question is who wants to make BD into PK and why she needs to talk about 71, war criminal, Pakistan in this day. That is AL who is using politics in that day. Now a days the way of celebrating Pahela Baishakh has changed where AL wants to inject its craps in the celebration.

Anyway, I know why AL is more enthusiast about Pahela Baishakh than any others, because it represents that AL's secularism (osom.pro.dayek), where people from every religion celebrate that. I have no problem with that. But here AL is trying to get some score which I hate. And to see people bringing AL crap in this celebration, I just have lost my interest. Nothing else.



You are right. The Pahela Baishakh celebration was not as like today. Some people/Atheists of art schools deliberately trying to destroy Islam from our mind by bring unnecessary things in the celebration.

By going through all these discussions, there is a question that is coming to my mind? What is the value system and ethos of BANGLADESH?
Bangladesh want to be recognized by its religion first or bengali first or what else? Please do not take it as a offending question. I know that i can get it from some document in internet? But the issue even i found in this forum that bangladeshi argue among each other about their baseline ehos of country.

Please dont drag india into it...The reason is it is not like th ethos of bangladesh nation is decided by what india is or what indians are....

He is a Razakaar who has taken asylum, after bolting hotfoot to Bangladeshi and now feels that Bengalis of Bangladesh should speak his language and his theological strain since he is turning out to be the odd man Jack and feeling immensely lonely and left out!

• Bangladeshi must dislike Pakistani and must not seek greater cooperation with the state of Pakistan.
• Bangladeshi must not diagree with Inidans.
• Bangladeshi must be forever greatful to India for 71 and Bangladeshi must not think 71 as issue of the past.
• Bangladeshi must consider Indans as blood brother.
• Bangladeshi must look up to India and must follow Indian prescribed foregn policies.

Other wise he must be Razakar, Bihari, fake Bangladeshi, and so on.

2. Write broken Urdu and claim that Pakistanis no know Urdu.

3. Think and insult all Bangladeshis as half Hindus, agents etc if do not carry the immense venom in the heart as you display.

And to believe that Bangladesh, who won a hard and violent Liberation, has to be grateful or an appendage to India, is a total insult to Bangladesh and Bangladeshis.

No, my friend, venom is not for anyone who is human.

Just to educate you, my ancestral land is in Bangladesh. But does it mean, I have to hate because I was dispossessed?

Why are you so insecure? Can one carnival change one's religion. You speak so highly of your religion being strong to buffet all storms and you are never short on given examples.

And yet, you are morally afraid that one carnival will convert all away from Islam.

Rather I feel India should hire you as a consultant to improve India Bangladesh relation....
