What's new

NASA's most powerful telescope ever is about to change how we see the universe

Thats nice, all this makes me think i should have accepted that job offer at an observatory.
Unfortunately observatory work is very limited; it is mostly at various institutions where astrophysics is taught where the work happens.
Look at SKA website; there are many opportunities to pursue PhD or post doc work. If any kids are interested, this is the next level - you may pass that info over to your network.

hopefully no more delays now. It was first expected to launch in 2018 so already 4 years late.

Btw it will further take 6 months for its intruments to become fully operational and start sending data

I am so excited about this being launched and see what new discoveries it makes about the universe we live in - its been a long time coming as a project and I hope and pray that all goes ok with the launch and delivery of it into space and that there are no suprises as far as its expected behaviour versus unexpected.

It goes back to our religious texts, we are just focused on present life, we fail to see the creation of the skies which God has created.

Here we are very very fortunate, southern skies are amazing at night vs northern skies.

do you have telescope at home?

I use a maksutov 150mm and 200mm dobsonian.

Where i like - a telescope has no value - too much light pollution.

As a young child of 9-10, I remember seeing the sky at night from our village in Mirpur when eveyone decided to sleep on the roof that night - the sky was so clear with no clouds - that i was away most of the night looking up - it was a surreal experience that i still remember to this day.

yes understood. That is biggest grip i had with most european cities; the light used really messes up the night sky.

However, I would encourage you to get your ham radio licence. With that you can get into really good radio works e.g. digital modes, Earth Moon Earth; communications with ISS or via amateur satellites. I mostly am on hf communication and meteor scatter.
