Bangalore, July 14: The manner in which the media has twisted Narendra Modi's comments in a recent interview to Reuters are a good example of how Media creates controversies around Narendra Modi and then goes on milk those controversies for weeks to generate traffic, eyeballs and TRPs.

The media reporting on Narendra Modi's visit to Uttarakhand last month was no different when that visit was turned into a controversy for weeks thanks to a report in the Times of India on 23rd June.

It now turns out that the Times of India report of 23rd June attributing claims to Narendra Modi was a false and mischevious report. The Times of India has now belatedly issued a lame clarification almost 3 weeks after the fact.

The Times of India clarification has appeared today as a small insert in an inner page in one of its local editions. In the clarification the Times of India admits to its mistake and also admits that its mistake created a huge controversy for Narendra Modi for no fault of Mr Modi.

The clarification also admits that all the exaggeration in that report was due to Times of India. The clarification makes it clear that neither did Narendra Modi, nor did the Gujarat Government have anything to do with the mischevious report.

It is shocking that the Times of India filed such an irresponsible report without checking with Narendra Modi or Government of Gujarat. It is also mischevious that the Times of India milked the controversy for so many weeks by allowing the Congress Party and other anti-Modi elements to take advantage of this report to write slanderous and defamatory columns as well as run a motivated campaign in Social Media.

This lame excuse by Times of India coming 3 weeks after the damage was done is a case of doing too little too late.

it is BJBs fault that they are so lenient on TOI i group if i had been BJP president i would have seued TOI with a very very hefty ammount just the way MQM did with mubashir luqman & ARY news and the result is all the media houses have started treating MQM and its quaid with more restraint and respect i think modi and rajnath should also do the same other wise these people in Indian media will keep on doing this

Media house should charge hefty penalty to malign a person image for the sake of high rating.

Modi's ek-wachan (One statement of Modi)
Congress' Bahu-wachan (Many speech from Khangres)

Media's Pravachan.. :P (Media drama)

No publicity is bad publicity.. :P

Too much freedom to media.

It should be curbed a little bit and fly-away journalists like Burkha Dutt and Rajdeep Sardesai need to be reigned in.

That Rambo rescued 15000. It was all media hoax and Toilet news clarified for that.

BJP supporters defended the move nonetheless :D As I stated at that time it was wrong of him to do that. Don't know if it was concocted by the media, Modi's people have a tendency of making a Rajnikanth out of him and they make up such unverifiable facts themselves.

well media made an story which was literally impossible. They aggregated Gujarat's contribution and for that the ruling party and allies bashed modi for something which wasn't modi's fault at all. Its good that now the truth comes out and will certainly help modi.

I don't like the idea of curbing media freedom but I am for better oversee of news channels so that false news doesn't get out and if it did strict actions are taken against the channel.

As for journalists, BJP should think why they don't have their own Barkha Dutt or Rajdeep Sardeshai or their own NDTV or CNN IBN to put their views across.

Oh well... most of these media outlets tend to act like pimps to the parties in power. Should power shift to the other side... so will their loyalty. By being the on govt's side... they have lot to gain.

Paid news man, paid-for controversies. The Congress are past masters in this. They obviously have given that Toilet paper lakhs of rupees from Sonia Gandhi's black money to spew garbage against Modi and the BJP.

And I've lost all respect I had once for that other loudmouth who goes by the name of Arnab Goswami of the Times group. He seems to have become pro congress due to the moolah he's received from them.

And do you guys know what the journalist's name was who spewed this baloney? Anil BALUNII!!! :omghaha:

Now that is a coincidence if ever there was one!! :cheesy:

"Modi in Rambo Act . . ." would mean Modi was shooting down Hind helicopters using a bow and arrow, if taken literally, i.e.. If not taken literally, one can be rather imaginative. Now, even if reports of Modi or Gujarat govt. giving food/shelter/medicine is true, then he did save some of the victims of the disaster.

What's the big deal about banging one's head about ToI? ToI owed everyone a clarification, but I do not see why ToI should offer an apology, but if that soothes some frayed nerves, ToI should do it.

One is however entitled to criticize media, and ToI is not a saint either.
