Narendra Modi: Has new prime minister given India its mojo back?

I just hope that, the real reforms will come outside the budget. The government was very mild and simple and a typical Indian budget. But lets hope for more reforms and manufacturing incentives later on.

Many Reforms are legislative reforms and not related to the budget . for example Labour reforms have to be done by respective states like the Rajasthan govt.

Besides many of the expenses of the previous Budget were carried forwarded into this year by Chidambaram .. So BJP had less room to maneuver . Scorched Earth tactics of Chiddu

Sir big tax reforms are not child's play it has huge impact on longterm policies of any economy Arun Jaitley said the reforms will come with time.Budget has very largely focused on implementation area which is the key factor and which previous budget lacks. Arun Jaitley have most balanced budget I ever seen as economicst I suggest if we implement even half of the things he mentioned in the Budget are economy will be back on track.

Lets just hope, the GOI implements GST asap. That will one hell of a boost to the manufacturing. Secondly, we need banking sector reforms. Small Indian banks must be encouraged to join together and create bigger banks. These 2 reforms can be done ASAP.
Land laws need to be changed and Industrial corridors with high speed rails should be immediate steps forward.

NKVD, post: 5900231, member: 152828"]Sir ji you even read the budget in detail for instance schemes regarding manrega, narega implementation procedure is totally changed for asset creation rather throwing money without accountability like Upa regime usually done in the past.actually it increases the project worthfulness. cuts in retrospective taxes to create wealth and investment friendly environment for FDI.he try to do whatever possible in what he in herited from the Congress sir look at the economic survey as for big reforms what you are saying like Gst and etc need time such big decision's which have longterm effects on economy cannot be done in matter 45 days as any economist understand. For details watch Times now Arun Jaitley interview if convinced Arnab what I think he did:D:D:D he convinced me.[/quote]

NaMo is good.

But it is too early to see how India will do during his rule of 5 years.

The reason is that Bharat is not Gujarat.

Culture and population numbers are totally different from NaMo's state compared to the overally country.

Hope this helps.

See, we Indians quite like Pakistanis as I see here have reached pretty much rock bottom in terms of services received - roads , electricity, water etc . Add corruption & inept administration to this and the picture emerges.

Modi , thanks to how he ran Gujarat and the sensible decision making he did represents a silver lining.

For once after a decade the nation feels in safe hands. But that in no way implies a carte blanche with regards to spending. One hoped for a Govt with a majority of its own ( never mind the party) & that has happened , so one expects things to look up.

A crucial upcoming event is the elections in states like Maharastra & Haryana by Oct - Nov. Having put Shah in charge of the BJP it is hoped that he can create the ' UP magic' in these states as well. This shall consolidate the BJP & Modi making it a lot easier to run the country.

All in all, even if its short lived ( which one hopes not) there is light at the end of the tunnel.

It is true, India is not Gujarat.

But then, China is not Guangdong either.

Gujarat's economy: India's Guangdong | The Economist

Today, many Chinese provinces are doing much better than Guangdong, using the same economic model.

The Gujarat model CAN be applied to India as a whole. It will be difficult, without a doubt, but the potential is there.
The main problem of India is the fact that India unlike China is a federal country where Indian states follow their own politics.
This is one of the main reasons for the huge discrepancy between the development of the different Indian states.

Has he delivered the GOODS as per the Expectations ? :coffee:

He has been in office since May. He said that it will take years to implement what he planned.

But what he has done it this little time is promising
