it would be "Rafale MKI"

Cannot be.. the MKI in the Su-30MKI stands for Modernizirovannyi (modernized), Kommercheskiy(Commercial i.e export) , India

So its Russian nomenclature.

How about calling it the "Rakshak".. as the Mig-23 was?

.
"Shaurya"

"Aparajita" - One that cannot be beaten (after all it won the contract defeating all the others)

"Chandrakant"

"kshitij"

@ Oscar:

Rakshak is a good name! Rafale in French means 'strong gust'. So if we did not already have a jet in the 60's called 'Toofani', this would have been a good name. Of course, the original 'Toofani' was teased a lot as ' 2 Fanny' :hitwall:

One correction though: The Mig 23 was called the 'Vijay' ( the Victorious one) in the IAF.

I would go with 'Tegh' or 'Shamsheer' for the Rafale.

. . . . .
क्षितिजराज (Kshitijraj) is really good and meaning full name means "King of Sky"
