Exclusivity in religion is more an Abrahamic concept, not as much in the eastern religions.
I have studied all Abrahamic religions thoroughly all my life. It seems they were not that different back in the day during the times of ancient Israelites. They were in fact so similar that they never called their ancient religion Judaism. There were many split offs from there into Samaritans, Christians, Muslims and so on. Its like a chain reaction and a new religion in to making every other century.

But come exam day , you can see Japanese students visiting Temple to pray for good luck and divine intervention.
LOL. I think its more to do with human psychology than religion. I have seen videos of ardent atheists "praying" while in dangerous situations. It could be body's natural response to cope with stress, perhaps?

Cause there were no Muslims around to derail the thread, that's why :)

Not entirely true mate.. @DESERT FIGHTER have made a number of contributions to the thread both tongue in cheek and with valuable insights to Pakistan's Buddhist heritage

I'm sure many Muslim posters would have read through the thread and chose not to derail it..

I thought it was the Theravada school that dominated South East Asia.. Including pre Islamic Indonesia and Malaysia.. Myanmar,Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia are strongholds of Theravada Buddhism to this day..

no it is Mahayana school which is prevalence and has a strong presence in Indonesia until modern day like today, and if you visiting most of Buddhist temple in Indonesia you will found the evidence for yourself. Borobudur Relief itself explaining the holy books of Mahayana and the complexes is part of nine Dharma on Buddhist Mahayana school of teaching; those nine Dharma is : (1) Astasahasrika-Prajnaparamita, (2) Gandavyuha, (3) Dasabhumisvara, (4) Samadhi-raga, (5) Lankavatara, (6) Saddharma-Pundarika, (7) Tathagata-guhyaka, (8) Lalitavistara, (9) Suvarna-Prabhasa. Borobudur itself can be divide into three parts, each parts will symbolizing the human life cycle and law of order, those parts will be called as Kamadathu, Rupadathu and Arupadathu.

One of the greatest teacher of ancient Nalanda University is Srivijayan princes, named Dharmakirti. As a Sailendra princes,he should become a Bhupati but instead he chose to became a revered scholar-monk in Srivijaya and moved to India to became a teacher at the famed Nalanda University, as well as a poet. He built on and reinterpreted the work of Dignaga, the pioneer of Buddhist Logic, and he was very influential among Brahman logicians as well as Buddhists.

Thank you for the explanation.. I guess i confused myself between the differences.. I was mistakenly comparing to the more Eastern branches of Mahayana traditions that incorporates Zen, Shinto and Taoism

maybe this part of article can give you an insight

Yi jing (635-713) praised the high level of Buddhist scholarship in Srivijaya and advised Chinese monks to study there prior to making the journey to the great institution of learning,Nalanda University, India. He wrote:

In the fortified city of Bhoga, Buddhist priests number more than 1,000, whose minds are bent on learning and good practice. They investigate and study all the subjects that exist just as in India; the rules and ceremonies are not at all different. If a Chinese priest wishes to go to the West in order to hear and read the original scriptures, he had better stay here one or two years and practice the proper rules.

The temple complex at Borobudur in central Java was built as a Mandala, a giant three-dimensional representation of Esoteric Buddhist Cosmology and has a root of Mahayana Buddhism. All of the buddha statues on each of its four sides have the same mudra, corresponding to one of the Dyani Buddhas of the cardinal compass directions.

Another line of thought points to the depiction of the Gandavyuha, the last chapter of the Flower Garland or Avatamsaka sutra on the median levels of the Borobudur stupa (and Buddha's birth story from the Lalitavistara on the lowest). The English language translation of the entire Avatamsaka sutra was completed in the early nineties of the 20th century as yet unidentified upper bas-reliefs on the Borobudur may depict episodes of this sutra. The Avatamsaka sutra does not preach a specific group of Dhyana Buddhas but rather insists on innumeral identical Buddhas throughout the universe.

Thanks to admit.....so what is your opinion ..should they seek forgiveness??
Of course. Hindus must seek pardons for their crimes against Muslims during partition and we Muslims must seek pardon for our crimes against Hindus. Only then we can truly forgive each other.

.
Unless Muslims officially seek forgiveness for their past crimes, yeah same mind set is there.
i. Those who did it are long dead and gone.

ii. Any small apology will be too little too late.

iii. Those who are disturbed and do not approve of destruction etc will wash their hands off - they did not destroy in the first place anyway.

iv. Those who are proud will never apologize either.

Of course. Hindus must seek pardons for their crimes against Muslims during partition and we Muslims must seek pardon for our crimes against Hindus. Only then we can truly forgive each other.
A national reconciliation. Sounds good. :)
