What's new

Najam Sethi's editorial on the extra-judicial killings in Balochistan!

a heart-rending editorial by najam sethi published in dailytimes really distressful i know people will just regard it as a another conspiracy and will start to rant their vitriol but if u really want disapprove it then put something solid which can negate the facts

OK negate with facts. Good. But where are the proofs in the world's most altruistic person's article that you posted. Particularly for these parts.

Javed Naseer Rind, a young journalist, was abducted in September and his tortured, bullet-riddled body was found the other day in the province. More than a dozen Baloch, including women, were killed last week in less than 24 hours during a military campaign in Balochistan

So just because a few people around 8-10 were killed out of a population of 8-9 million people in some incidents means military action. Does Mr Sethi has any proof that they were indeed killed by Military or just because someone's tortured body in some part of Pakistan means that they were killed by Military. We have seen many tortured bodies in Karachi too so that means they were also killed by Military or is this judgement by Mr sethi is limited to Balochistan. :azn:

I am asking this question for two reasons.

1 BLA has been involved in killing Baloch journalists or any other who don't agree with them.

http://www.defence.pk/forums/pakistans-war/63445-bla-kills-baloch-journalist.html

2 The journalist belongs to Rind tribe which again is a very patriotic tribe and has largely kept themselves away from the so called freedom movement.

Talking about facts I think we can also ask some proofs from the above mentioned claims from the symbol of truth Mr Sethi.

QUETTA: Scores of women and children rallied in Quetta on Eidul Azha to protest against the practice of enforced disappearances in Balochistan and appealed to the world community, particularly the United Nations and International Humanitarian Organisations, to play their role in ending the man-made humanitarian disaster in the province.

Voice For Baloch Missing Persons (VFBMP), an organisation striving for the immediate recovery of the Baloch missing persons, took out rally from hunger strike camp outside the Quetta Press Club and marched through different roads and streets of the provincial capital.

About 50 women and children participated in the rally holding placards and portraits of their loved ones. The protesters staged a sit-in at Meezan Chowk which is the busiest intersection in Quetta. “We are not celebrating Eid because all I want is my brother to get back home,” said sister of Zakir Majeed, a nationalist leader who was listed missing about two years ago. Addressing the protesters, Chairman for VFBMP Nasarullah Baloch said that neither the judiciary nor the government has made any serious effort to release a single missing person.

“The issue of enforced disappearances is going unnoticed, thus we are on the roads. It has been almost one and half years that relatives are on strike but to no avail,” he said, adding that National Crisis Management Cell is backing the government and its functionaries instead of taking steps to address the concerns or raise the voice.

The VFBMP announced that they will soon march to Islamabad where they will hold protest demonstrations outside the offices of United Nations and International Humanitarian Organisations.

“Our apprehensions have come true that all missing political opponents are subjected to brutal torture as the mutilated and bullet-ridden bodies are turning up every day,” said sister of Jalil Reki, Central Information Secretary of Baloch Republican Party (BRP). “It seems that the judiciary and government had condoned the killing of Baloch people as they do not bother to ask why mutilated bodies are being dumped on a daily basis and who is behind this massacre.”

According to VFBMP, as many as 230 bullet-riddled bodies of Baloch missing persons have so far been found dumped in desolated places of Balochistan.

Nasrullah said that most of the women had come from far-flung areas only to draw the attention of Humanitarian organisations of the world. “The victims belonged to poor families and are merely political workers or had affiliation with nationalist parties,” Nasrullah said who puts the figure of missing persons to around 14,000. He said his organization has complete details of 1,300 Baloch missing persons.

no facts for negation..............

only counter statement asking for facts......................

ok you want facts and proofs constitute a commission they will meet for months, spend millions, analyse reports and military and then will present their "ignominious" report just to be rotten in inaccessible safes as they contain "proofs" e.g hamoodurrehman commission report

balochistan is war ridden province since 2005 because of military ego and for your kind information this is a long protracted military campaign as provided by a protracted neo insurgency going in only baloch areas of dera bugti, kohlu, khuzdar, turbat and makran phustun belt is excluded so your perception of 8 and 9 killings is totally wrong small hiatus in killings doesn't point towards perpetual peace e.g karachi where 8 or 9 die often large no of killing is a rare incident

who says BLA are angels or right on their parts???????????? yes they are killers and terrorists but only lambasting them can't serve justice we should also weigh army and ISI in same balance and doing so we can conclude they are killers no difference as indians in kashimir, chinese in xingiang, britons were in ireland, turkey against kurds and on and on apologetic approach can serve no purpose

how can you judge a person only from his tribe????????????????? if a journalist is a rind he is patriot?????????????? even bugtis are patriots more than rinds mir ali bugti (current nawab)is very loyal to army while his cousin a staunch enemy???????

no facts for negation..............

Well I was just questioning the "facts" in Mr Sethi's article. It that a crime?

ok you want facts and proofs constitute a commission they will meet for months, spend millions, analyse reports and military and then will present their "ignominious" report just to be rotten in inaccessible safes as they contain "proofs" e.g hamoodurrehman commission report

So we should believe whatever "facts" present in this article and consider it a divine statement. No need of any inquiry or judicial report etc. OK. Great going buddy.

balochistan is war ridden province since 2005

Humm

as provided by a protracted neo insurgency going in only baloch areas of dera bugti, kohlu, khuzdar, turbat and makran phustun belt is excluded

So insurgency is only in few districts of Balochistan as you mentioned and areas like Makran or Pushtoon belt is excluded from this "freedom movement". OK. Looks like more of a issue of law and order of few districts instead of whole Baluchistan. Got it.;)

yes they are killers and terrorists but only lambasting them can't serve justice we should also weigh army and ISI in same balance and doing so we can conclude they are killers no difference as indians in kashimir, chinese in xingiang, britons were in ireland, turkey against kurds and on and on apologetic approach can serve no purpose

When did I said that no mistakes are committed by military? Yeah some mistakes/excesses/crimes might be committed by Military but I was questioning Sethi's claim that since a few dead bodies are found in Baluchistan, it is military who has killed them. Where is the proof for that part. Why should I believe this claim. They might be killed because of some tribal feud or personal animosity or any other reason. What proof he has presented in that article full of "truth" that military was behind those 8 dead bodies. You failed to understand that part buddy.

how can you judge a person only from his tribe?????????????????

I was just giving my opinion.

even bugtis are patriots more than rinds mir ali bugti (current nawab)is very loyal to army while his cousin a staunch enemy???????

OK. So I can safely assume that this is more of an issue of few tribal leaders than whole Baloch nation or group. :)

.
Niazi you're wrong.....

because:

there's a fundamental difference between ethnic cleansing versus taking action against miscreants --those who target kill, those who wage war against the state using terrorist tactic, those who engage in treason, those who engage in sabotage (e.g. blowing up pipeline, attacking property)

you should note that distinction
