Najam Sethi views on current situation

Establishment never decides based on how their reputation is going to look with regards to an issue.. they just do what they feel is the right choice..do u really believe they had no idea they would be egged left and right once Imran gets removed by ncv.
Reputation can be fixed later. But the time to do something may never come back.
i don't think its going to be as easy as that. the upcoming military leadership will have to live in the shadows of what bajwa has done.

cross many generations dislike against the once esteemed institution has been sown, again by the actions of bajwa!

this time around people are not going to keep quite and its worse. its cross generations from those close to the grave to those leaving the cradle.

IK was never the ultimate good leader, people are not upset because they booted IK out, People are upset that America has bought the entire Political elites, Judges and entire top level Military leadership, we know Politicians are sellouts and will sold to highest bidder, we know judges care about everything but justice, but Army ? they are suppose to be the protectors and Mard-e-Muhajids right ? can't believe we have cowards wearing uniforms and think they are brave when in reality they are like every other criminal and thug, they are tough only to a weaker person but when they are face to face with a equal power, as a Legend once say inki " Kapen tangne lagti hai ".
lol if that is so then why aren't people backing fazlur rehman who has been making accusations againt army generals? even became a pseudo COAS as well with its own army too.

When have I not believed what he says? Please tell me. Curious to know...
here is the thing sethi has been know to be a kazab in the past! so does confirmation bias still matter on the lies sethi told in the past?

sethi accused nawaj of xorruption in the past and today its riding in a boat with nawaz!

confirmation bias much!??!

I have been told so by someone you can maybe call the establishment!

Everyone from the military to N to PPP thought that IK is a spent force and log isay anday marain gay once he goes out.

Imran khan didn't really do any such thing to get that... yes he mismanaged economy but his soft power was still strong.. he is a clean and honest man in an arena full of rats... such folks dont go like this in history.. isi/ establishment they all had their hands on the public pulse.. something stupid to ignore

The ousting of Imran Khan was the result of a cost-benefit analysis that went horribly wrong.

What the establishment really wanted was to benefit from two flowing rivers; the USA and China-simultaneously. A balanced relationship between the two super-powers would have given Pakistan leverage against India and re-started the flow of American military equipment, and for that they knew they'd need to serve American interests in Afghanistan.

So, 2021 came when America left Afghanistan, and there came Imran Khan's "Absolutely Not." Suddenly, the opportunity that the Army had waited for over two decades came and went away. This is when cost-benefit analysis was done and the establishment decided to "pay the cost" of embracing corrupt and criminal politicians because the eventual gains would be worthwhile. So operation regime change began.

Thus, laws were broken, politicians influenced, MNAs were bought, journalists stripped naked, protesters tear gassed, the media blacked out, and the nation was thrown under the bus—because the eventual benefits of serving Americans were greater than the cost of destroying Pakistan. You see, this doesn't make sense. You do not destroy your homeland because you want it to be stronger. No other armed force in the world does that to their country.

The establishment's original reasons could have been justified, but their inability to convince the government and later explain it to the people of Pakistan is worth mentioning. And, let us not forget, the army's appointment of DG ISPR has been a glaring failure who offered absolutely no help. Limp horses cannot pull a cart.

Exactly. Everyone thought PTI/IK is done but April 11 late night demonstrations shocked them and rest is history to date.

Entire generation of Pakistanis hate establishment because of Bhutto judicial/militarily backed murder. It took us atleast 30 years to move on from that tragedy. Now Bajwa is busy in making another generation of young Pakistanis to hate Pakistan Army for decades to come if they block IK from our democratic system altogether. They should realize, this generation of Pakistanis are young, quite educated, belongs to middle class thus quite dangerous when it comes to the narrative and making opinions.

That is a brilliant assessment and most likely that is what happened.

The letter was directed towards Bajwa and with a cost benefit analysis, a regime operation was triggered.

As per establishment’s calculation and pulse, they thought Imran Khan would be forgotten and previous tradition of sweets will be distributed (when Nawaz Sharif was ousted by Musharraf)

I don’t buy the argument, things are all OK in the establishment camp and few months/years down the road all will be forgotten.

What has changed this time?
- Imran Khan ousted
- Imported government installed
- PTM activated
- Capitulation to US demands
- Stiffling free speech
- Arresting journalists
- Corruption in establishment ranks
- Social media

The above narrative has been resonating in the mind of the public. The pulse rating is at all time low and it is worrying the establishment.

This could very well translate to a reboot of establishment role. That would understandably be a red line. For that reason Imran Khan cannot be allowed back.

Here's a recent video.

Some comments:

1- There were quite a few members here, I won't name names, who said that Imran Khan ko fauj nay nhn nikala, it was just politics and he got outdone by Zardari or whoever. Please watch the video and see for yourself what a PML tout is now openly saying.

2- Najam Sethi is himself now bringing out the divisions within the military structure out in the open. He is laying it bare for all to see, what some have been saying even on this forum since a few weeks. Ab nhn ho raha agla COAS compromise? Ab nhn ho raha woh ganda? Yeh koi PTI wala hota ab tak aik aur parcha lag chuka hota.

3- What the heck level playing field does N need now? They are picking up people left right and center, they have an effective media ban, they have absolute authority right now to do what they please, and are in the federal government. Aur kia level playing field chahiay short of stuffing ballot papers?

The level playing field he is referring to is the demand of N from the establishment that let NS and Ishaq Dar come back. Establishment agreed to it, but then backed off (a few months back)...and are still right now not too keen on the idea, with the reason that pehle hi bari besti ho chuki hai, we can't afford any more. There are clear splits within on this issue as well.

Anyways, enjoy the video:

@AgNoStiC MuSliM , @akramishaqkhan

Shhh they are rascals or nuetrals......

Reputation can be fixed later. But the time to do something may never come back.

What they feel has costed pakistan half the country and has kept it a third world ever.
Trust or perception take decades to build and a moment to shatter. U think army generals can now proudly say they are the guardians of this country as they use to?
I think they have it in current generation of social media. And it won't be coming back. Something bloody generals is failing to comprehend.

This journalist used to be the flag bearer of anti-army journalism . Has appeared many times on Indian media and used to critique Army's role in Pakistan’s political structure. And now he acts as cheerleader of Army. Hypocrisy?

That is what happened when the establishment went neutral.

They embraced Dawn Leak culprits, PTM, criminals in the Senate/Parliament, anti state journalists, corrupts, bribed PTI senators etc etc

To add salt to the wound, they declared 5th generation youth as uninformed, apprehended patriotic journalists, banned channels that were pro establishment and ousted an elected government.

Will be interesting to see how long these people who have spent their whole life criticizing Army, will act as Army's partners.

Hear me out.
What if this is the plan by PMLN to create further divide btwn army and ik? Najam sethi isnt a kid, he knows what he is saying and choose his words carefully.

Not for very long.

The establishment has it’s shortcomings and cannot keep everyone happy all the time.

Somewhere along the line some PDM members would not be happy with their share of the pie and spill the beans.

These immaculate ivy league duffers aka establishment do not get it. Their obsession for ‘management’ won’t end and the politicians ‘greed’ for money won’t. Completes a loop.

If a certain honest person comes, it won’t be to their liking as the vicious cycle of deals and greed can’t be maintained.

Hear me out.

There is a certain quarter in PTI who have this line of thinking.

But again, would PTI be OK to make some deal with the establishment and come back. There can be an understanding between the two but a deal to bring PTI to the helm would hurt PTI and Pakistan.

After 7 decades the Pakistanis have a golden opportunity to put things right ie to put establishment under the rule of law and accountability for everyone. PTI is just a means to an end here. If PTI compromises then I hope they are damned.

I’d say look at this at a macro level. Everyone should be under the law of the state. And with establishment under huge pressure, it is better for every Pakistan to take this struggle forward, with or without PTI.
