NADRA wins Nigerian identity card project

ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has signed a multi-million dollar contract with Nigerian Government’s agency for system integration services and issuance of national identity document, a statement said on Monday.

NADRA Chief Project Officer Gohar Khan and Nigeria National Identity Management Commission Director General Chris Onyemenam signed the contract at a ceremony held in Abuja, Nigeria.

The system has been indigenously developed by NADRA and its delivery will empower the Government of Nigeria to issue tamperproof and secure computerised identity cards to its citizens.

The project focuses on an end-to-end solution for issuance of national identity document, which includes Back-end System Integration with Automated Fingerprint Identification System and Identity Card Production Facility.

This contract is continuation of a phase wise delivery for Nigerian National Identity Management System that was awarded to NADRA earlier in 2009. NADRA has successfully delivered the first phase of the project worth one million dollars.

This is one good project that India should emulate from Pakistan. They have just now started and studying the Pakistani model also will help.

I have worked for nadra so i am sure that india can get help from NADRA's vast experience .. Pakistans ID card project is mature now and covers 90% of population .. and i think total contract of Nigerian project is worth 10 million Dollars

NADRA was also the consultant for Saudi ID card project as the French company earlier failed miserably and the Saudis no more trust western companies in handling sensitive information..

NADRA is also rumored to implement BD CNIC system in future. Also Pakistani company 1-Link implemented the electronic financial network of Bangladesh which connects all the ATM and "online" bank branches.

well afghanis got id cards because there is no difference in afghans and pashtoons both speak same language and have same culture and traditions ...

Well dont know about BD ID card but yeh NADRA is implementing BD Driving License .
