Well personally I feel the onus is on us migrants most of all to unambiguously unite and abandon the old story of "we have been oppressed", "we have been oppressed"... If we look at things more critically Pakistan was the best thing to ever have happened to us muhajirs. We have urdu as the national language, we control the cities of Sindh with an iron grip, particularly Karachi which also happens to be the provincial capital. We also have a GDP per capita 13,000 rupees higher than the Punjabis who are on second place as the ethnic group earning the most money. Our governor has served in one position for 10 years almost. So why do we always feel threatened. That is the real question.

An average muhajir will never see things in this light and how unfortunate this is. Instead we remain trapped in a cycle of hatred for anyone but the MQM. I mean isn't it ironic that we still vote for a party that has given Karachi only violence... we, as we like to point out-the sons of the creators of Pakistan?

My uncle only a day ago made a comment that Imran Khan is a "badbudar Punjabi" and was on about the peoples amn committee without looking at our own detrimental role we played in weakening Pakistan. The first thing is Imran Khan isn't even a Punjabi, he is a Pashtun so how can he be a "badbudar Punjabi"... we are locked in our hatred of the rest of the ethnicities and are unwilling to get out of that mentality. When I talk to my relatives I actually feel sad. We were supposed to be the glue that united the nation. Instead we are the crack that divides the nation.

Personally I have adopted many functions of Pashtun identity in my love for ethnic unity even though I have limited and few such links most of all unproven. But much less my community won't do that. They are locked in hatred. This is my real beef with muhajirs today. They will tell you tales of oppression despite being at the top of the Pakistani hierarchy. They cannot see their stronger position and are eternally locked in hatred for the pashtuns and punjabis and others.

Bro you haven't seen the way MQM supporters talk and operate and the hatred in their minds for others. The moment you saw the names and words they used for other communities you would start hating them. But i agree with the point you made. Not one but all political parties which use violence should be punished. Taking action against one will give stronger credence to our uncles and relatives claims that they are unjustly being oppressed. Personally I know PPPP has a militant wing as they kidnapped a person in our khandaan.

I also partly agree that some of the problem also exists in other communities but I think as the most powerful ethnic group . This is my real beef with our relatives. Instead of strenghthening Pakistan we fell to the same mindset which pervades the rest of the ethnic groups-not only that, have hatred even worse for others.
