The civilian nuclear deal is a pretext by the United States to make India its "outpost" in the region to check the growth of China, CPI general secretary A B Bardhan said today.

At a function to commemorate the 80th birth anniversary of legendary revolutionary Che Guevara here, the CPI leader alleged the US was adopting various means to draw the country into the controversial deal.

"The US is adopting various means to draw the country into a strategic partnership. They have a purpose, an aim. It wants India to act as its outpost in the region to counter balance China," he said.

Fossilized relics of the past.

Waiting for the next elections to show these idiots what the nation thinks of them.

It's just the truth - one can always say, yes, we want the benefits of the deal and yes, we have no problem in counter balancing China, after all China behaves in ways that we do not find so friendly towards us, the case of Pakistan, for instance -- that way, one is both truthful and true to one's own world view, the rest of the world will know where you stand and no need for coyness, maybe that's just what's called for.

I pretty much agree with most of your points.

I won't agree with the outpost part. More of a partnership.

China wants to have a multi-polar world but a uni-polar Asia. Obviously other major Asian nations do not want that and need to ensure that such Chinese designs do not bear fruit.

The left in India seems to behave in a manner which is more considerate towards Chinese interests than Indian.

In my opinion these commrades are traitors. India needs electricity and there is only one way, nuclear power. The biggest hurdle in India's progress is the lack power. I wouldn't be surpried if there is link between these commrades and Chinese communist party.Besides these commrades are the same people who said during 1962 during Chinese invasion that Chinese are our brothers and they are coming of help us. I will try to find link for the last part.
