Muslims never inhabited the NE....Aurangzeb attacked Assam 17 times and failed...the only success was by Mir Zulma who managed to occupy parts of lower Assam in late 1600 which was re-occupied. So people claiming such stupid things needs to get their brain checked.

I think, you are quite wrong in your assumption that Muslims from Bengal did not settle in Assam before BD was created.
1) In fact, it started since a failed invasion of Assam by Turkic ruler of Bengal, Malik Bakhtier Khiliji, in around 1202. The settlement was precipitated in Kamrup and Goalpara in the western Assam, which is adjacent to Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet.
2) The 2nd phase of heavy settlement was precipitated when another Turkic King of Bengal, Malik Turbak, invaded Assam in 1530. His army was defeated by the Ahoms and were taken prisoners. But, unlike Muslim troops, who loved to behead their PoWs, these Muslim PoWs' lives were spared. They were allowed to live, but were treated like slave workers. Finally. they were allowed to marry with the local women and settle in Assam. Their descendents formed the 1st batch of significant number of Muslim population in Assam.
3) Assam was and remains a large tract of land, but with a very small population. Assamese women, historically, produce less number of children. So, it was inevitable that hard working Muslims from the northern east Bengal started to go there and cultivate in the vacant land long before the end of Muslim rule in Bengal and India. This is how these new arrivals started to live in Assam.
4) It happened also like this. A Muslim Bangali family goes to Assam, cultivate the land and come back to his home with the produce. However, during the next generation or so, one branch of such a family started to live in those lands and finally became Assamese. Their descendents without knowing which part of Bengal they initially hailed from became Assamese in language and culture. There were numerous invasions of Assam by the Muslims of Bengal before and during the Mughal period. These invasions opened ways for the Muslims to go and settle in that land.
5) The same thing happened when the British Bengal army ousted the Burmese troops from Assam in 1824. Muslims kept on going to Assam and settle in the vacant unpopulated lands there.
PM Modi should read authentic history books and then talk about Muslim immigration from Bangladesh. It is a blatant lie. Indian Hindus should know how to live in peace with the Muslim settlers of Assam who migrated there in historical times. If the Indian Hindus tries to expel them there will be bloodbath and no amount of military force can stop these Muslim Assamese gaining a separate Homeland. Well, our militants are waiting to make best use of that opportunity.
If Muslims are foreigners in Assam, then so are the Ahoms who came from south China/Laos and settled in Assam only during 1150s, merely fifty years before the Muslims started to live there.
