Here I came to listen from Bangladeshis for their kindness to India for asking India zero Transit fee means Bangladeshi thinks India is paying no money to Bangladesh for transiting their Goods to North-East India.
In accordance with the Article-V of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) 1994, while no customs duty can be levied on transit goods, charges for infrastructure, administrative and other services as per international practices may be levied on the same.
Following are the ways Indians are going to pay Bangladesh:-
1)user fee
2)infrastructure development surcharge
3)congestion charge
4)air pollution charge
5)river pollution charge
6)noise charge
7)accident charge
8)security charge
9)administrative charge
10)institutional charge
11)customs and land port fee
12)foreign vehicle entry fee
13)fuel tax on transit cargoes
14)bank guarantee on transit cargoes which is equivalent to total tax payable on import
Apart from this India is also Paying for:-
1) Construction of Ashuganj Port terminal
2) Akhura-Agartala Rail link
3) Construction of Roads
Means Bangladesh is contributing little for infrastructure development for India.
