Myanmar Times:Tourism takes off in Bangladesh

- Shall we go to Bangladesh for our holiday, dear?

- Er, no.

Would like to know, where do you spent your holidays btw (except Myanmar)?

I would highly appreciate, if your taste level is upgraded as WB upgraded your economic status. Though actually you still are not out of jungle I guess. Have you even seen any cities in your life? Your posts assume like you are a long time cave man, who doesn't want to be changed. :P

Btw, your point of view towards never reflects how general people of Myanmar thinks about Bangladesh. No Bangladeshi tourist I know have ever faced any racial attack against them. Partly because, they get respect cause probably they are spending money. Our people love your peoples always smiling face. Bagaan is the most popular destination of Bangladeshies who visit Myanmar. So, as you point of views are completely different than, the myanmar people we are facing. I would assume you don't live among them, so no doubt about your whereabouts being isolated caveman type attitude.

As we never in real life faced any problem from Myanmar people, while visiting. We would keep loving them. Hatred is not our priority. Your hatred is disgraced, as you are a Buddhist. I guessed Buddhist people are extremely peaceful loving people, but who you are actually? Who you are representing? Definitely you are no good for your country/religion who incites hatred.

Our invitation to you will be still open. Cause, no Bangladeshies are caveman or jungle man.

;) ;)

You should definitely visit Bangladesh after a few years. India is working on a major project to augment the tourism potential of Bangladesh.

India working to make Bangladesh a desert

We will be having camel safaris and belly dancing in the Bangladeshi desert.

LOL. Whatever happens, opportunity arises. LOL.

Basically what @Aung Zaya said. The ones who can afford an overseas holiday, they new burgeoning middle class, go to Singapore or Thailand. But Viet is becoming popular due to newly opened airlinks. Cambodia too for the same reason. The more affluent will travel to Bohd Gaya atleast once and tend to go to Maldives and Japan although many stay home for a beach holiday. I am/was based in UK so it's not representative to ask me but my last holiday was in Spain. When I make the permanent jump back to Myanmar, my first holiday plan is to Cambodia - I want to visit Angkor Wat. But there are also plenty I haven't seen in Myanmar that I'd like to visit. Mrauk-Oo for example.

No one I know, whether English or Burmese, have any plans to ever visit Bangladesh. And I know some adventurous travellers.

BTW I've always wanted to visit Tunisia because of its ancient ruins of Carthage - rival to Rome in the ancient world, but I guess your Muslim friends have ruined that.

Some bit positive posts from you, we are happy. Yah, we should go for aggressive advertisement abroad. Instead of going for electronic media's abroad, govt goes with btl type activation. Will take time, to bring notable number of foreigners here. But will have to accept Myanmar has got so many to show itself interms of tourism.

I am not unhappy, atleast you are moving forward with something like tourism to unveil yourself.

I am accepting so much rooms left for improvement in tourism at Bangladesh. Though, local tourists are contributing lot to grow up the tourism sector. I know some of my colleagues who spent $1200 - $1500 for a 4/5 days coxsbazaar couple trip. Numbers are not few, luxury hotels who charge $100++ to $200++ per night goes with rooms unavailable status regularly.

Loved to share this similarity, as beside India, Nepal. Thailand, SG is the next popular destination for short trip. Then comes middle east nations, Maldives, Sri Lanka for holiday trip

The term domestic investment, domestic tourism etc are foreign to most burmese.
BD being a muslim country will never be a desired destination from most western party guys. I dont encourage them either.

If Turkey can become magnet for the party loving western tourist and earn billions of dollars then why don't we?We are not thikadar of Islam?

Because BD is a s***hole. When Westerners think of BD, if they do, they think of sweatshops and slums. That's the truth.

Domestic tourism is big business in Myanmar and what many repats look to invest in. But I wouldn't expect a half literate bengali to know these things.

. .
Its your own opinion and problem. Btw, When would you come out from being a caveman?

We came out of the cavemen period around 2700 years ago with the founding of the Sri Ksetra kingdom. When do you plan to evolve beyond homo erectus?

Coming out from a Bamar's mouth... :bad:

Repat, domestic tour, investment................

Getting beyond insults being hurled back and forth - I have to admit I know little about Myanmar's economy, aside from the fact that it has some tourism industry. Other than that - I know of almost no industrialization being made in Myanmar other than tourism. They tried to jump start garment industry in Myanmar but apparently trained labor is absent and they have severe labor shortage, it will take time for labor to be trained.

By the way Cox's Bazaar which is only about 100 miles from Sittwe (Akyab) via Maungdaw, has scores of five star hotels. I don't think Cox's Bazaar could qualify as a 'Sh*thole' because it is packed with toursists most of the time (even rainy season). They have big plans for Cox's Bazaar. see below.

Myanmar has a lot of spill over tourist from Thailand looking for fresh meats specially underage.
Facts..................

Because we can earn billion dollars in a far better way... set up more factories, invest in knowledge and science. Follow Japan instead of Turkey or Thailand.

Couple more of Dusai Resorts, it's a rather large property and the buildings are nicely integrated into the trees...

You certainly are misinformed. The garment industry is doing well, actually. The only drawback is we struggle to compete with BD wages (which considering how poor we are says a lot about you). We also have a more diversified set of industries and many are the result of foreign investment. We receive many multiples of FDI that you. Monkey boy will tell you about capital controls, investment laws etc. etc. but Myanmar investment laws are probably stricter and yet it keepa flowing in.
