Myanmar in advanced negotiations with Pakistan to licence-build JF-17 fighter

,I have serious moral discomfort when it comes to sales to Burma in light of the Rohingya situation

.
Bengali people from Bangladesh will lose whatever amount of respect they had for Pakistan if this deal goes through.
I mean no disrespect, but, please go and live your life and let's live ours. Pakistan have nothing to do with Bangladesh or people of Bangladesh. As a Pakistani, Bangladesh is just a random country in the world like any other, and I suggest you to think Pakistan the same.

Yes dear Myanmar can compromise his defence secrets. Because secrets regarding jf 17 r not myannar secrets they r Pakistans defence secrets actualy. And dont forget india can do eny thing to counter Pakistan

The comment betrays your ignorance.

Is Egypt going pass on French military secrets to Russia as they have access to Rafale? Of course, not. Its absurd. The same applies to Myanmar.

Relations between India and Myanmar are not as close as people presume. We had a frosty relationship with India until about 15 years ago when they dropped their objection to the military government.

Thank you for your perspective. This should be an eye opener for Pakistanis.

so where is all the love for Rohingya muslims ??

Love is another thing,. if you dont sell then they'll buy something else from some1 else.. wont b an issue for them,.. to show love you dont have to make your people jobless...

In a cultural battle of winning non Muslim hearts against India, especially Buddhist hearts, you will ALWAYS lose. Culture these days constitutes nudity, vulgarity, fornication, bastardry, drunkenness, paganism, etc.

Selling 16 jets is merely the first step in military-military ties.

Just like India won the hearts of Sri Lankans by supporting LTTE terrorists? :enjoy:

The world isn't as black and white as you think.

But we have won no hearts in Sri Lanka. Our 'relationship' is transactional. Now you may get strong worded paeans of friendship, but they are strategic. Pagan hearts will always hold more warmth for other pagans. I have very close Buddhist friends, I know what they stand for.

Obviously, only you know Buddhists and no one else. The rest of us are waiting for your wisdom to shower upon us. Again, all or nothing thinking at its best.

After deciding to purchase 16 JF-17 Thunder multi-role combat aircraft in 2015, Myanmar is now in advanced negotiations with Pakistan to licence-build the third-generation fighter, defence industry sources in Yangon and sources close to the Myanmar Air Force (MAF) told Jane's in mid-January.

If an agreement is reached, Myanmar's bid to manufacture the single-engine combat aircraft - co-developed by the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) and China's Chengdu Aerospace Corporation (CAC) - could mark a significant step forward in the country's efforts to expand its local defence industry.

As the MAF phases out its obsolete fleet of F-7M Airguard and A-5C 'Fantan' combat aircraft purchased from China in the 1990s, licensed production of the JF-17 Thunder would also mean that the aircraft will likely become the MAF's workhorse over the coming decades in much the same way as it has moved to prominence within the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

At least 70 of the fighters are in service with the PAF, with the first ones having entered service in 2009. Expectations are that the PAF will induct up to 150 JF-17 Thunder fighters in the coming years.

The first of 16 imported JF-17s ordered by Myanmar are expected to go into service with the MAF later this year. Speaking on condition of anonymity, sources told Jane'sthat these aircraft will be of the Block II variant, which was first rolled out from the PAC's Kamra plant in 2015 and which, unlike the Block I variant, features an air-to-air refuelling capability and improved avionics and electronics.

It is unclear whether later deliveries to the MAF will include the far more advanced Block III variant being produced at Kamra since last year. Sources told Jane's that in the context of ongoing negotiations on licensed production, Myanmar is seeking to produce the aircraft's Block III variant.

Are they looking for say 250+ birdy? if yes then good move by MAF and yes this will be good for China and Pakistan as well but we put clause that they can't export or share technology with any country and they will not getting any profit from this project

i am concerned about the use of weapons against rohyngya's!
purchasing these from a muslim country to kill muslims in another would be the biggest irony

Russian weapons that Bangladesh buys have never been used on Afghan, Chechen and Syrian Muslims so Bangladesh is in the clears.

Oh wait that's not true!

.
Selling these birds will make India feeling awkward, Myanmar are so clever, they buy missile from India, so India can't pressurized them to buy shaheen(thunder) win win win for India Pakistan and of course Myanmar,

I highly doubt that accusation. Though JF-17 is multi-role fighter jet, but purpose of JF-17 in MAF is to serve as backbone of Aerial defense.
