My view on Iran

KSA is not the issue of this thread, but KSA situation is completely different than of Iran's. KSA development is connected to its oil reserves, and I do not think it has independent basis for long range technological and educational development. I never been to KSA, so perhaps you right about some changes being made and some places more developed than in the past. However the core problem of KSA is that it is a very religious and very conservative country, so a real civil society is almost impossible. Iran, on the other, already got what it needs to compete in the modern world, all it needs to do is get rid of the current murderers in power.

Nice idea, but I do not think a solution will be reach in this thread.

All these misconceptions are a legacy of the past. My point of brining KSA here is to signify the danger of giving power to religious clerics whatever creed it is. Israel itself is falling in the same hole. And we DO have long range technological and educational independence. Now more than ever and it is only growing. Scientists are becoming the main focus for a change Instead of religious clerics.

Although I am very pessimistic regarding KSA, I hope you right. On the other hand, I am very optimistic about the capabilities of the Iranian people to change the course of their country and joint the world leading nations.

BTW, Israel is hardly under any threat of being controlled or influenced by extreme religious groups like in KSA.

All the signs suggest Rabiis who want in in politics. All the signs are there. "The Jewish Nation" is a big sign of that. Rabiis holding political talks is one. "soldiers failed because they didn't pray" is one. Settlers sway in government is one. Sure your constitution may say something else. But all the signs are there.

Saudis in general were kept on the dark of the world for centuries so the "birthing" as I like to call it into the world (because how painful it is and how agonizing it is) is recent and is almost complete. Our country's main policy is to move away from oil and build a "Knowledge based economy" something everybody is laughing at but that is becoming more true everyday.

Your understanding and knowledge about Israel is even smaller than my understanding about KSA. Israel is a pluralistic society with Jewish religious communities of all kind, some are more modern than then others. And this was always the situation. Religious people in Israel has the right for freedom of expression, so they can say what they want, but there is a long distance of Israel becoming a religious state like KSA.

But you right about the dangers with religious-run countries, and I hope Iran will be free from this situation soon.

when i came to the UK I realised the glory of ancient Iran such as the time of the Zoroastrian kings cyrus, darius etc this was something i did not get taught in Iran because in Iran they keep everything Islamic and I realised how from a young age the regime fills head of the youth with junk and forces them to follow their ideology...I am now extremely anti islamic Iran and always will be. I believe everyone in Iran should have the right to choose their own religion and not get forced, our very great nation of Persian was created in that great image by the great Cyrus...he is a symbol of resistance to current day Iran to me, because he stood for freedom.

My family were Zoroastrian originally but where extremely opressed by the regime to a point where they actually had to follow Islam just to be accepted. My brother was kicked out of uni in Iran just because he said he will always value our ancient root over this current BS.

May your tribe increase. Pre-Islamic Iranians are our cousins from the distant past. The ancient Avestan language is almost identical to Vedic Sanskrit.

Just think about the fate of child separated from his mother.....

They are going backwards while we are going forward. When religious clerics are in power it is a dangerous thing. And please do tell what do you think "Saudi" is like?

I like Saudi, except for the public beheadings.

this I fully support. Why?? because the whole point of execution is to be as a stark warning against any people who dare do such things (Murder,Rape,Drug Trafficking). An Electric chair in some execution room is extremely cruel. Execution as punishment is wrong as it is done in many places around the world. But it should be as deterrent for criminals.

And this is the most painless way to execute criminals if I was given a choice to which way I would go I would pick this. A strike on the brain stem will kill all nociceptor function.

I think it desensitizes the society as a whole. When such things are allowed to be seen by children, it will have a negative impact on them. Maybe it will not affect them now, but I can see in 20-30 years from now, this will make the people less receptive to violence. Just my two cents.

That's the parents' fault. I never seen one nor do I plan to. But one of my friends did he tells me now even the idea of murder makes him sick to his stomach. So it actually didn't encourage violence but far from it. And you talk as if it is a normal sight. It is rare that an execution would happen in your area more than once in your life time.

If you are proud of your Zoroastrian or Pre-Islamic Past, that's the best things. We Indian are also feel proud of our Buddhist Past.
Here are picture of Zoroastrian Fire Temples from Mumbai, Unique Ancient Iranian Architecture is really Superb. Parsis who migrated from Iran in 7th Century gave a huge contribution, which we Indians always acknowledge.
