You are university student nearly an adult not a high school or primary school student. Laughing in the class without a valid reason is akin to making fun of others and in this case your teacher who has all the control over your performance in tests/exam.

That teacher might speak about your class or yourself to other teachers and most of the teachers would be vary of your class/you.
Learn to control your self , kids or children will forget and move on but adults will consider that as insult or humiliation which can never be erased. Remember it makes no difference how good you are perception is everything once other person feels bad they will never forget.
