It is near cholistan. And Punjab gormint doesn’t spend any money on us. That’s why we hate Lahoris and want to murder them on sight. South Punjab used to be richest province in all of Pakistan and now we are living like beggars because these central and northern punjabis steal all of our money. So good luck with trying to implement ground water replenishment technologies.
Quaid-e-Azam solar park is 10 minutes away from our village and all the electricity it generates get redirected to lahore and central Punjab while we sit in the dark. Only now that DHA started to get built, Faujis took pity on our village and don’t cut off electricity and gas.
But with faujis, nothing comes free. It’s not as much a goodwill gesture as much as it is a statement that they will be annexing our lands in the near future.
As a Multani, the disparity with Lahore saddens me. I can’t imagine the feeling you are going through in your pind on the edge of the Cholistan desert, especially with the Solar park only 10 minutes away.
I really hope they extend services and irrigation canals out to the Cholistan desert. The land can be made fertile again as an ancient river use to run through it. I think it was called by some the Sarasvati River. Across the border the Indians have turned their side of the Cholistan desert into arable land, so I hope you are able to hold onto your land (if you don’t want to sell), because if water is managed correctly, your land could be nearly as fertile as the rest of Punjab in a few decades.
