I heard that DRDO is working on a project Pinaka 2 wih more range and rate of fire..... is that true? can someone shed some light on it please?

yeah i have heard that aswl some where dont know any details but imo they should be .

Yes, it will have more range, more rate of fire... yes It should be a great achievement...

No it is not! This is the vanilla pinaka. There were plans to upgrade the pinaka rockets with trajectory correction/ GPS/ laser, etc. Also there is the possibility of larger rockets but I am not sure if that would happen. If it does happen (and it would require a change in the entire design!), the tests will happen only after 2-3 years from now.

And is DRDO working with Israel to upgrade Pinaka to a deadlier vehicle? Well DRDO did a good job by Pinaka, not many countries R&D there own MRLS or MBRL

Of course smerch looks more deadlier ... Hope TATA can make trucks like that... and Fix Pinaka to It, will look even deadlier...

The same base can be interchanged for use as ATACMS launcher as well. Depending on the type of rocket, range goes upto 70 kms. Also with ATACMS, the range goes upto 150+ km.
