Khwarij started killings after 2006. Christians, Shiites, Ahmedis etc were being killed even in 90s. In 90s, being a shia doctor in Karachi was basically asking to be murdered. Lashkar-e-Jhangvi type people would check phone books and kill random people with shia sounding names. They even killed some real sunnis(barelvis/sufi-types) for having shia sounding surnames such as "Mehdi".
