Because each weapon has its own role in a squad. AR, SMGs, sniper rifles...

Agreed each weapon has a different role in a squad...I can understand the sniper rifle to hit long range targets..but clubbing a pistol caliber weapon with a 5.56 caliber assault rifle does not make sense as these troopers are on foot patrol along the IB where engagements would be mostly long range barring a few incursions and the stopping power & range of a pistol caliber weapon is limited...Also the headache of logistics of carrying 3 different calibers of ammunition within a squad which cannot be interchanged between the weapons when you run out of ammunition in an engagement
