Mutant coronavirus pushes UK’s international prestige to lowest level

Perhaps the gov'ts made the contracts so that funding would be available to try and make a vaccine.

this article says only Pfizer is approved as of yesterday. But is also says,
" The EU has ordered 300 million doses of the BioNTech-Pfizer vaccine; two are needed for each person, meaning other shots will be required to immunize all of the bloc’s nearly 450 million inhabitants."

I'm not sure about the link regarding them buying, and for that to fund the vaccine. It's more about pulling their countries through this tough time.

Also our government gave £131 million straight to Oxford's Jenner institute and others to fund their vaccine breakthrough. Other nations don't have anywhere near the scientific research prowess the UK has, and that includes virtually every EU nation. A mere look at the world's university's ranking can tell you that. We have five for our nation of 65 million.

Okay, good for those people. What I can say is that. I am never going to the UK again. I am never taking my people there. I might go far to the North, I might stay where I am, I might go far to the South but NEVER to the UK. :) Do not go back.

You mean citizen? Of course I said so in my ID.
I was born in Canada to parents who were born in Canada to parents who born in either Canada (English), England, Scotland or Germany.
As far as being Canadian? Means nothing to me.

Fair enough, I’ve just have never come across a Canadian who has hostile undertones towards the U.K., most Canadians see the U.K. as a sister country and offer support.

Those men in the UK stole the UK. Those men in Europe stole Europe. They serve MY cousins and are rewarded. My ancestors side lost. Endless greed vs nature and balance. We lost.

Which men?

Which men?

probably easiest to say, all of them. People don't move to a frozen wasteland at the end of the Earth because there are a lot of options left where they previously lived.

Yes, and we will need to return the favour, esp the french...
Are there many British people who don’t want to leave the European Union?
emm.If I were British, I would not want to leave the European Union. . I think many hands make work light ?

Some , not many now.

Also I’d use the proverbs to some up the EU;
Too many cooks soil the broth.
Too many chiefs and not enough Indians.

I support(ed) Britain’s membership of the EU, it seemed that we had a sweetheart deal in many ways.

Brexit won mostly due to the lies told by the leave campaign, people’s general discontentment with the system, and the immigration debate, as well as the sneering establishment whom people hate gathering up to argue that the EU is wonderful.

The UK has nothing at all to gain in terms of trade, its biggest sectors are heavily entwined with the single market arrangement we used to have and European businesses. Fishing was at the heart of the EU debate, tiny sector of next to no significance, leaving the EU won’t do much to help them anyway. Compare that to London’s status as Europe’s financial hub, it absolutely dwarfs any other industry in the country and its been damaged.

The net effect of Brexit is mostly negative, the best we can hope for is that things will balance themselves out in the future.
